What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Keating Toyota service is open 7am-7pm Monday-Friday and 8am-4pm Saturday. Main Line Technicians are (7am-5pm) or (8am-6pm) Express Technicians are (7am-1pm) or (1pm-7pm)
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
We are a fully equipped facility with alignment, on-car brake lathes, tire balancers, mounting machine, Toyota special service tools, and built in toolboxes and work stations.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have a large tech break room with refrigerator, microwave, vending machines, and sink.
How many bays does your shop have?
We have 35 bays total.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
3000 repair orders
What is your parts ordering process?
Technicians relay their findings through a digital system and approved work from advisor send a alert to parts counter and technician. At this point parts are ordered if not in stock.
What is your policy on side work?
Technicians may work on employee and family vehicles after shift.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We offer ongoing training through Toyota Motors North America. This training consist of online modules and in class training in the Houston area.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
All technicians are given the opportunity to elevate their certifications.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Every six months the shop foreman and service director meet one on one with technicians. At this point personal growth and skill is reviewed.
What type of safety training is required?
We offer online safety training modules
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Seasoned techs are part of a in house mentorship program to help guide and teach younger techs.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Our dealer is very involved with local charities and events. We have hosted multiple community events at the dealer and chamber meetings,
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Our service director is a chariman on the board of the local school district automotive program. We currently employ six students from the program.
Where do you see the shop in five years?
The dealer and area are rapidly growing and in five years we will be one of the largest areas in the Houston metro.
Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?
We do have a application provided at time of in person interview. On average it takes ten minutes to complete.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
All applicants will have a phone interview for basic vetting with service director. This gives the applicant a opportunity to review work history and skill set.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
A in person interview is a opportunity to all parties to meet and get to know each other. Our interview focus's on applicant goals and personality. Our culture and team is very important to us and we want to make every effort to choose someone to be a asset to that.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
We perform background, driving, and drug screening before any hiring is finalized.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Applicants will receive feedback in 48 hours.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
The hiring process takes 3-5 days depending on both parties available schedule for phone and in person interview.
A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000/year
($36.06 - $48.08/hr)
Master technician (flat rate)
B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $75,000/year
($24.04 - $36.06/hr)
Expert level technician (flat rate)
C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $30,000 - $50,000/year
($14.42 - $24.04/hr)
Preventative maintenance and internal technician (flat rate)
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $40,000/year
($12.02 - $19.23/hr)
Express Maintenance technician (hourly)
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $80,000/year
