H & V Equipment is an authorized Alamo Industrial®, Doosan, Eager Beaver Trailers, Modern Ag Products, Terex®, or Zetor dealership serving the Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Progreso, TX area. We are proud to carry a large selection of new and pre-owned inventory. H&V Equipment Services offers full-service heavy equipment shops at all (3) locations. We can handle your heavy construction equipment repair and maintenance needs on all makes and models. We service all make and models of hydraulic hammers in our San Antonio branch. To go along with our service shops, H&V offers full-service needs in the field with equipped field service trucks and technicians to take care of your service needs in the field where your machines are located.


Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

No, but we do have big fans for the summer and heaters for the winter.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

It depends on the location. Corpus and San Antonio run between 6-8 techs. Progresso runs around 2-3 techs.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Normally 8am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday. Field Techs may vary a little. Overtime is available if wanted, but it is not required.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

It depends on the shop, but we have all of our Manufactures software as well as the standard tools. If specialty tools are needed, we provide them. We also have a diesel laptop to work on units that we are not the dealer of.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have an a/c room with, tables, chairs, microwave, refrigerator.

How many bays does your shop have?

San Antonio - 5 and a wash bay Corpus - 6 and a wash bay Progreso - 4 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

100 - 150

What is your parts ordering process?

We diagnose a unit, technician fills out a parts requisition form, the service manager signs off on the form and turns it into our parts department. Once the parts arrive, the parts department puts the parts on the technicians parts shelf.

What is your policy on side work?

You can have a side hustle, but it can not be anything that would take business away from us.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have a family culture. We are tight knit group, who help everyone out and ensure everyone feels welcome and taken care of. No employee is just a number here.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, we offer different online classes and in person classes for training through our various manufactures.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Once you complete different levels of training you can change your tech level.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Annually we will have performance reviews. One can always be requested as well.

What type of safety training is required?

We have weekly safety meetings.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

All of our techs are in one shop, if anyone needs help, they can always ask. We also put greener techs as helpers with seasoned techs so they have the ability to learn and grow.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We work with our local schools and colleges on technician programs. We also partake in fundraisers for Driscoll Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Yes, we offer Internship with the local High Schools and Del Mar College.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Our goal is to have 18 full time technicians as well as several techs in training to help grow our shop and the technician community.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, we have an Employment Application. It should only take about 5 minutes, or you can turn in a resume.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We can do it either way.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We discuss general knowledge and pass history. We can also schedule a pre-assessment test for them to do here or at home.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes, we do background checks, motor vehicle checks and drug test.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Yes, we have an online test that can be done at home.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

We would have an answer within 24 hours.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

One or two days, depends on how fast you complete the on line test.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $62,400 - $83,200/year

We have multiple manufactures that we will provide training for as well.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $41,600 - $62,400/year

We have multiple manufactures that we will provide training for as well.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $31,200 - $45,760/year

We have multiple manufactures that we will provide training for as well.

Service Manager
Service Managers are responsible for management and overall health of the shop. Service Managers are typically focused on running an efficient shop that meets their financial goals. Other responsibilities can include staffing, performance evaluations, and financial analysis amongst many other responsibilities.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $80,000/year

This position has the potential for bonus/commission.

Humana Health Savings Plan (H.S.A.) no copays, ded $4,0000 single, $8,00 family Humana Doctor on Demand Humana Mobile App HVE pays 80 % of employee cost. HVE contributes to the employee H.S.A. account per pay period, if you contribute.
Dental Insurance Offered
Principal Dental Plan This is your normal dental plan, with $50 ded, with max 3 family member deductibles. It pays 100% of preventive care. Principal Mobile App.
Vision Insurance Offered
Principal Dental Plan This is your normal vision plan, with $10 copay for exam with Preferred Providers. Exam once every 12 months, Lenses once every 12 months. Principal Mobile App.
Retirement Plan Offered
HVE offers a 401K plan. Employees are eligible after 6 months. HVE matches up to 4%.
