Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated but does not have air conditioning. During the summer we use swamp coolers that work well.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

There are 25-30 techs and 10-15 service advisors, a Service Director, an Assistant Service Manage, quality control manager and a Shop Foreman.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

The shop is open 7am to 8pm and shifts are mostly 8am ready to work until 5pm. We do have an alternative shift from 3pm to midnight. Work done on this shift is mostly heavy line.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

There are a variety of tools available for technicians to share including diagnostic, battery equipment, tire and alignment, and brake equipment. - 1 Hunter alignment rack - 2 Hunter wheel balance machines - 2 Hunter tire changing machines - 1 Hunter on-car brake lathe and 1 off car brake lathe - 4 Midtronics battery testers - 4 A/C machines - Diagnostic software available for use on laptop - 2 Aftermarket diagnostic testing tools - Fully equipment special tool room for Subaru repairs - Among many other commonly used equipment for use by all techs.

What type of break room facility is provided?

There is a technician locker room and large breakroom available. There is a fridge in the breakroom to store items in. We also provide our staff with complimentary Gatorade, coffee, and snack assortment.

How many bays does your shop have?

There are 27 bays in our shop including express service.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Approximately 3,000 repair orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Ordered through parts department. Parts requests are submitted through Xtime.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not allow side work at Groove Subaru.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer paid on-the-job training with a Master Technician and offer tuition/ASE reimbursement. Manufacture and NAPA training available as well.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Our process is to review regularly. Our leadership team will make sure that we are on the right path with each technician, so we are continually investing in them. This could be side conversations or formal review quarterly.

What type of safety training is required?

We provide in-person safety training along with training via an online portal.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our apprentices are assigned to one of our Master Technicians or Lead Technicians depending on what specialty the apprentice is being trained in—i.e. Electrical, Engine, or EV.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

The Groove Auto Keep Driving Foundation is committed to investing in our local communities. We provide access to grants to help drive change and build a brighter future for individuals and organizations in need. We have also partnered with Folds of Honor since 2017 to support their mission to honor the sacrifice of our military and educate their legacy. From Memorial Day through the 4th of July, we set aside funds to support the Folds of Honor Scholarship program.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We work closely with all schools in our area and nationally known colleges to encourage trade schools and help educate the students about career opportunities the Automotive industry offers. We have a partnership with Subaru University at the local Community colleges to integrate students into the profession.

We offer Tool reimbursement up to $1200 per year throughout your career. Dependent on years of service at company.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, a member of the Talent Acquisition team will reach out to you in order to complete a phone screen regarding the position you applied for or another role that may be a fit for you. This typically takes between 5 to 10 minutes.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

A typical in-person interview consists of meeting with the hiring manager to get to know you and understand your background and then also touring the building to see the shops set-up.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

After receiving a conditional offer letter you must complete a background check going back 7 years as well as a drug test screening for any illegal substances.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

The hiring team will usually make a decision within 48 hours of your interview. If the timeframe will be different the hiring manager will let you know.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Depending on scheduling and availability, the application and interview process typically takes 3-5 days.

Service Porter Pay Range: $18.00 - $18.00/hour

All porters start at this rate.

Mainshop Repair Technician Pay Range: $23.00 - $40.00/hour

Based on experience, certifications, and skill set

Lube Technician Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00/hour

Based on experience, and skill set

Service Advisor Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $150,000.00/year ($33.65 - $72.12/hr)

This is a commission-based position and the income opportunity will range.
