We are a fourth generation family owned business that has been in business since 1924. We have a very unique culture that is rare to find where we take care of each other, respect one another, and treat each other like family. We have over 300 team members across our complex and we all work and celebrate together as one team.

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

We have two shops at Toyota. Both shops are Heated and fans in the bays.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our technician group is usually between 25-30 team members including our technician students. We have seven full time service advisors.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our open hours are Mon-Fri 7:30am to 5:30 pm and Saturday 8 am to 1 pm. Our full time technicians generally work 5 days a week, 40 hours per week. Shifts vary per skill level.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

At Toyota we have built in tool boxes with matching upper and side cabinets. This saves a large expense for our technicians.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have three break rooms available for our team members.

How many bays does your shop have?

29 bays. Two alignment racks.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

2500

What is your parts ordering process?

We utilize CDK Service Edge.

What is your policy on side work?

Technicians are allowed to work on their own vehicle or immediate family in the same household off hours with prior approval.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have two Hunter drive through alignment check machines in our two lane Service Drive.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer Toyota factory training for our technicians.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Our technicians have the ability to grow from an entry level technican up to the level of Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician.

Can you describe your performance review process?

For all new hires or Service Manager will hold a review after 90 days and at the first year anniversary.

What type of safety training is required?

We have a Traincaster safety course which all of our technicians take on an annual basis.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Some of our Master level technicians enjoy mentoring our student interns and apprentices. It proves to be a very rewarding experience for the mentor and the student.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our Service manager takes part in the local automotive advisory board with Concord Regional Tech Center. We also support the Toyota T-10 program at Lakes Region Community College. We are active in career development with many high schools as well.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We continue to invest in our technicians to help them grow along their career path. Toyota is a strong brand and we continue to grow and develop.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We have an online application for that takes only about 10 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

No.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

The first in-person interview is with two direct managers who go over the day to day aspects of the job and to see if your skills align with what we are looking for. The second in-person interview is with two directors who dig a little deeper to ensure all information is accurate and the candidate is a good culture fit.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

A pre-employment drug screening, physical, and criminal background check are required of this position. In addition, this position requires a valid driver's license and must be insurable through our insurance company.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We verbally ask about skills during the interview.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Within 48-72 hours after the first interview, the candidate will hear from us about a second round. Otherwise, rejection letters are sent to the candidates mailing address.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Approximately two weeks.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $70,000 - $110,000/year

Using the flat rate technician system. Clocked time guarantee for worked hours.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $70,000/year

Using the flat rate technician system. Clocked time guarantee for worked hours.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $36,000 - $42,000/year

Hourly pay.

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $32,000 - $36,000/year

Health Insurance Offered
Grappone offers full-time team members medical insurance through Cigna and your premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis. Eligible on the 31st day from date of hire. Single Medical: $41.62 weekly payroll deduction 2 person and family plans are also available. Annual Deductible for Individual Plan: $1,300 Annual Out-of-Pocket Max for Individual Plan: $6,000 Low cost generic medication at a $5 copay for up to 30-day supply and a $10 copay for up to 90-day supply. All medical deductions, copayments, and coinsurance apply toward the out-of-pocket maximum.
Dental Insurance Offered
Grappone offers full-time team members a dental plan through Northeast Delta Dental and your premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis. This plan utilizes the national PPO Plus Premier network. Eligible on the 31st day from date of hire. Single Dental: $10.75 weekly payroll deduction 2 person and family plans are also available. Plan will pay up to $1,500 per member, per calendar year. Covered at 100%- Preventative and Diagnostic Services Covered at 80%- Basic Services (fillings, root canal, etc.) Covered at 60%- Major Services (dentures, bridges, crowns, etc.) Orthodontic Lifetime Max of $1,500
Vision Insurance Offered
Grappone offers full-time team members a vision plan through Cigna and your premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis. Eligible on the 1st of month following 30 days from date of hire. Single Vision: $1.81 weekly payroll deduction 2 person and family plans are also available. $10 exam copay Lenses are covered in full after $25 copay Contact Lenses- $150 allowance Frames- $150 allowance
Retirement Plan Offered
The 401(k) Plan provides team members with the opportunity to invest for retirement by making payroll deductions on a pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) basis. Team members may contribute a maximum of 75% of their salary and will be automatically enrolled in the plan at a pre-tax contribution rate of 4%, unless a different contribution amount is chosen, or you opt out. If you contribute 4%, your match will be 3% 3% is the cap on the match Team members are eligible to enroll in the quarter following 500 hours of service.
Sick Leave Offered
Personal time benefits are available to all full-time team members working 30+ hours per week. The amount of personal time available is based on your date of hire and hours scheduled to work per week. Team members scheduled for 40 hours or more per week will receive the following: if hired between January 1st and June 30th you will immediately receive 16 hours of personal time. Team members hired between July 1st and September 30th will receive 8 hours of personal time. Team members hired between October 1st and December 31st will receive 16 hours on January 1st. 16 hours of personal time is awarded every January 1st.
Vacation Offered
Earned and personal time benefits are available to all full-time team members working 30+ hours per week. The amount of earned and personal time available is based on your years of service, date of hire, and hours scheduled to work per week. Team members scheduled for 40 hours or more per week will receive the following hours of Earned and Personal time combined: On your hire you will receive a prorated amount of paid time off for the remainder of the year. You will receive 9.33 hours for each month you are going to be employed for the remainder of the year. 112 hours of paid time off for the first full year, divided by 12 months, then multiplied by the number of months you will be employed for the remainder of the year. Example: Hired May 22, 2022 May thru December is 8 months 8 months X 9.33 hours per month = 74.64 (You will receive 75 hours you can use within your first year) Any time remaining in your Personal time can be carried over from year to year. On January 1, 2023 you will receive another 112 hours to use. Year three(3) - 128 hours Year five(5) - 136 hours Year seven(7) - 144 hours Year nine(9) - 152 hours And it continues to go up from there.
Paid Holidays Offered
Full-time team members are eligible for 8 paid holidays. Grappone recognizes the following paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
ST / LT Disability Offered
Grappone provides full-time team members with Short-Term Disability insurance which provides income continuation in the event of temporary disablement. Your premium will be paid through weekly payroll deduction based on income. Weekly premiums are $6.70 for team members who earn $34,667 and above annually. Weekly premiums are deducted on a post-tax basis. The benefit is 60% of average weekly earnings to a maximum of $600 per week for up to 26 weeks. Grappone provides full-time team members with Long-Term Disability insurance which provides income continuation in the event of total disablement. Your premiums will be paid through weekly payroll deduction on an after-tax basis. Benefit amount is increments of $100 to max of 60% of monthly salary with a maximum of $6,000. There is a 180 day elimination period and the benefit duration is to the age of 65.
Life Insurance Offered
Grappone provides Basic Term Life insurance for full-time team members through Unum. In addition, we provide Accidental Death and Dismemberment, which pays the beneficiary an additional benefit equal to the Term life coverage if the death is the result of an accident. Basic Term Life/AD&D is 100% paid for by Grappone. Benefit Amount $15,000
Uniforms Offered
Grappone provides rental and laundry uniform services. Each full-time technician receives 11 shirts (long sleeve or short sleeve), 11 pair of technician pants, and 2 industrial jackets.
