Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop is both heated and air-conditioned.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The service department as a whole maintains approximately 45 employees. However, the number of direct teammates you will be working with daily is 5.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

The shop hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. We offer two different shift options, one is a 4 - 10 hour a week rotating schedule and a Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

The shop provides all tools for lube technicians to utilize. When it comes to main shop technicians, we provide all specialty tools, Chrysler-specific diagnostic tools, and major tools you will need to complete the job at hand. The main shop technicians are required to furnish their own tools, but we do provide the tool box.

What type of break room facility is provided?

The break room facility that is provided for the service employees is equipped with cable television, multiple refrigerators, microwaves, and an air fryer, along with purified water and coffee.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our shop houses 20 bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

On average we service between 1600-2000 repair orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

The parts are ordered directly from the parts counterman once the repair has been approved.

What is your policy on side work?

The policy on side work is outlined in the union, Local 777, contract.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer various skills and educational training opportunities. Chrysler provides both in-person and virtual training opportunities to build your skill level. We also have vendors on-site occasionally to show more efficient and effective ways to use equipment to increase technician time.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We are an incredibly busy business that has been around for 50+ years. There is no shortage of work with us, and we continue to grow as a business each and every year.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have annual performance reviews. However, we will give feedback more frequently if necessary.

What type of safety training is required?

We have monthly safety and shop meetings that are mandatory, but we do provide lunch.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have an incredibly intelligent and talented shop foreman whose sole responsibility is to assist other technicians and help them learn and grow.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our dealership as a whole, participates in any and all local events in the community. We even have an annual food drive for the local food pantry.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are regular attendees of all Ranken Technical College events. We also have visited Lynn Technical College as well as sponsored and attended I-Car events.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Growing steadily. We have plans in the works to expand our shop and create more bays to help keep up with the growth of our business.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We have incredibly loyal customers that are great and we are very lucky to have them our number one goal is to keep them satisfied and returning for service.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, we do have an application form and it takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we typically phone-screen applicants before doing an in-person interview. This phone interview takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. We will skip this step in the hiring process depending on the experience level of the applicant.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Our in-person interviews entail a one-on-one with our service manager to discuss your experience, and skill level, and give information about the company.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Once a conditional offer of employment is extended, we require a background check, and drug screen, and you must pass an insurability test with a clean driving record before a final offer of employment can be issued.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, we do not perform a skills assessment. The service manager will ask targeted skill questions and determine knowledge and skill level from response and experience.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

After an in-person interview, it should take approximately up to a week for an offer from the hiring manager.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

The full hiring process can take anywhere from 48 hours to 2 weeks from start to finish.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $31.50 - $34.95/hour

We would consider this to be a Journeyman Technician, and the highest levels are paid out for Chrysler Trained Technicians.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hour

We would consider this to be an Internal Service Technician.

Student Tech / Apprentice Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hour

We would consider this to be a working internship for a student or someone who is wanting to learn with a little knowledge and experience already.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $18.00 - $20.00/hour

Lube technician rates are based off experience and level of knowledge.

Service Advisor Pay Range: $200,000.00 - $374,400.00/year

Paid by hourly plus commission. The commissions are paid out monthly.
