Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Heated shop

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

3 current A techs, 2 general service and a full time inspector

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are open 7am - 5pm and have a morning huddle every morning at 6:45am.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have a remote diagnostic tool from Matco, a few TPMS tools and provide all shop supplies.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a lunch room that is air conditioned with snacks and drinks.

How many bays does your shop have?

12 lifts, 2 alignment machines and an inspection bay. Plenty of space for "flat racking" vehicles.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

457 on average.

What is your parts ordering process?

The service advisors estimate and order parts. When there is a question of what part may be needed, they ask in advance to reduce technician downtime.

What is your policy on side work?

Off-hours only. We are often around on Saturdays. Must be a vehicle in your household.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We do host a lot of community events. Our customers love that they get to meet us off-hours and become human beings in their eyes. We don't require attendance from the technicians, but it would be nice to have the techs there.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We pay for ASE testing, and will help with ASE's as much as possible.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

The sky is the limit! Where do you want to end up and how can I help you get there?

Can you describe your performance review process?

We perform monthly 1 on 1 meetings with the technicians and weekly 1 on 1 meetings with the advisors. We don't wait for an annual meeting to go over performance issues. We are usually on top of it wanting to know where we can help bring the productivity back up.

What type of safety training is required?

A week of OTJ. We will show you our safety rules, test drive routes, and how we do what we do for your first week.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We allow the technicians to help as much as they can. As most of you are aware, some techs will keep to themselves. However, if you ask for help, our techs will usually offer it. We don't have a stand-offish shop.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Events, events, and more events. We usually start the year with a blood drive, followed by ladies night, then a car show, a cornhole tournament, then meat bingo, a pumpkin weight guessing contest, then a turkey donation, then toys for tots to wrap the year.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We do work with a couple of schools. Our owner Gregg, is a substitute teacher for the auto shop programs at the local high schools. We are working on getting on the advisory board for NOVA.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Growing. We have the ability to grow 2-3 times from where we currently are.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

If you come to our company, and there is a place you want to be and we can help get you there, we will.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We have a paper application as well as a form to fill out on our website. Unfortunately due to it being a legal document, you would still have to fill the paper version out. It usually takes roughly 5 minutes to fill out.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We perform zoom interviews instead of phone interviews.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Once we actually meet, its more of a shop walkthrough. ALL applicants are invited to walkthrough the shop before a final offer is made.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We do perform background checks and pre-employment drug screens on all applicants. Personality profiles are limited to the sales staff.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

If we do, it is on indeed applicants.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

3 days unless otherwise noted.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

3-5 days.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

We do our interviews over zoom. That way once you arrive to our shop to do the walkthrough, its more casual conversation. We want you to meet all the people you would be working alongside to make sure there are no personality differences.
