Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Yes. Each of the three shops have it's own heating unit. No air conditioning but excellent ventilation.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Technicians do not work in teams at this time

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We have one shift that works form 8AM to 5PM

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Special tools form GM. Hunter alignment machine purchased in 2021. New tire machine and road force balancer. Recent laptop toughbooks and ample desk top computers.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Now building a new breakroom with lockers, changing area, filtered water dispenser, refreshment area with refrigerator and microwave.

How many bays does your shop have?

16

How many repair orders do you average per month?

850-900

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts can be ordered via the service advisor or directly at the technician parts counter or by text message

What is your policy on side work?

Techs may work on vehicles in their household

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We encourage technicians to participate in the GM training program which consists of online video and virtual live training as well as hands on training at the center in Mansfield. The dealership participates in the Technician Excellence program which rewards tech for achieving higher levels of training. The dealership matches all GM rewards. All training is paid at the technician hourly rate.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We promote techs to higher skill levels and pay rates as they achieve training and their abilities advance. Their are also opportunities to move to different departments as openings become available.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We review with our techs several times a year on a formal and informal basis and try to provide positive constructive feedback and insight into the dealership's strategies, goals and vision. Techs rarely ask for additional increases to their hourly rate as we regularly have technician compensation review meetings with service management and the ownership to ensure our pay rates are industry leading.

What type of safety training is required?

We host annual safety right-to-know safety training. We mandate ear protection when appropriate and proper equipment for handling torches. We strongly encourage eye protection but it is not mandatory. We provide nitrile gloves and reimbursement for steel toed boots.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

New techs generally pair up with an experienced tech to answer questions and receive instructions on unfamiliar repairs. The experienced techs receive compensation for every billable hour form the apprentice.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We support many local organizations especially youth sports and the Pan Mass Challenge. We always are happy to donate to all employees charities, kids school activities, fund raising and sports teams.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have regular contact with the area trade schools and have active programs that allow students to work in the shop in between their class schedules.

We see our shop as the template for what techs want their work envinoment to be

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes. Approximates 10 minutes

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Phone screening is available on request by the applicant

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We have informal meetings, not ultra structured interviews from some MBA manual. We want to get to know the candidate and let him get to know us. The owner of the dealer group is generally the first contact for these meetings.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Background checks and personality test are not performed. Drug screening is performed.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Not at this time. We rely on the statements of the applicant as to their skill level.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

1-3 days. In some instances an offer will be made on the spot.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

2-5 days

We try to make the process relaxing and friendly which fits our overall atmosphere.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $100,000 - $140,000/year

Flat rate compensation of $32 to $38 per hour including sizable year end retention bonus. Additional bonuses for reaching specified flat rate hours per week.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $75,000 - $105,000/year

Flat rate compensation of $28 to $34 per flat rate hour including sizable year end retention bonus. Additional bonuses for reaching specified flat rate hours per week.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000/year

Flat rate compensation of $25 to $30 per hour including sizable year end retention bonus. Additional bonuses for reaching specified flat rate hours per week.

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $40,000 - $48,000/year

Also eligible for year end retention bonus.

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $14 - $16/hour

Goal is to move apprentice techs through entry level and become C tech quickly

Year end retention bonus is payable to all technicians that are employed on December 31st. It is earned by contributing to the company's goals of customer satisfaction, cooperation, attendance, respect for all associates, adhering to GM policy and procedure and skill level. It can be a sizable amount based on these criteria.
