Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
The shop is located outside. We are close to San Diego Bay which offers a nice breeze and mild temperature.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
We currently have 19 main shop technicians and 4 express technicians. We have 6 very experienced Service Advisors.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Our shop is open from: 7:00am-6:00pm Monday-Saturday Closed Sunday. Our team members work a usual 8-hour shift.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
All Dalton FasTrack Express Technicians are provided the necessary tools for the day. Tools will be provided for special campaigns, scan tools, brake lathe, wheel balancer, alignment rack, press, tire changer, tech streams, and special service tools.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Our facility has a break room for our employees close to the service department. We provide cold water and hot coffee/tea. We also have vending machines (drink & snacks), and a refrigerator for use as well.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We facilitate in the continued training of all our employees. For technicians, it varies by position. We encourage and pay for the cost of our Line Techs Toyota classes, along with ASE certifications.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Dalton Motors Group continues to expand by adding additional vehicle brands creating great growth opportunities for those willing to excel. For Dalton FasTrack Express Technicians the goal is usually to develop into a Line Tech and progress to a Master Diagnostic Technician. Dalton Motors can help plan your career path.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Each technician has a goal set by their supervisor. These are reviewed weekly with their immediate manager and any needs of the technician are also addressed.
What type of safety training is required?
Monthly safety meetings. On-line safety training at hire.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
We have a dedicated Service Manager who work with new hires and apprentice technicians. He provides them the right tools and skills to be able to move up into the main shop. You also have group leaders to provide you guidance when needed.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We work with our local colleges for apprenticeships.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Our goal is to get move involved with our local High Schools to build an apprenticeship program.

Our in-person interviews are extremely important to us. We love to get to know the people that are applying here first. We want to know their story, who they are, what their goals are, and how we can help them achieve them. Then, we review the position they are applying for with the applicant to see if it is a good fit for both the applicant and the dealership. Its multi-interview process with several Managers from our team.

We do not. This type of information is discussed during the in-person interview itself.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
We usually have made our decisions within 24hrs on who will be joining our team. It's highly unlikely we wait any longer. We value our applicants' time and efforts.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Once an application is submitted we move speedily and have an interview with the decision within 24 of the final interview

Every application is thoroughly assessed and discussed with team members. We want to maintain a culture of enthusiasm and enjoyment. We feel that Dalton Toyota is a great environment and our hiring process is key to bringing on talented people.
A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $75,000 - $120,000/year
Must have Master Technician or Master Diagnostic Technician Status.
B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $62,000 - $70,000/year
Pay has variables based on technicians training, certifications, experience and proficiency.
C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000/year
Pay has variables based on technicians training, certifications, experience and proficiency.
Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $37,000 - $45,000/year
D and Lube Technicians. Pay has variables based on technicians training, certifications, experience and proficiency.
Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $72,000 - $150,000/year
Commission based pay structure including customer satisfaction.
