What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

7am - 5pm Monday - Friday 8am-4pm on Saturdays Assigned 9 hour work days and every 3rd Saturday

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All Ford specialty and essential tools are provided - major equipment such as alignment rack, ac machines, tire changers and balancers are provided and maintained by the dealership

What type of break room facility is provided?

Tech breakroom with big screen TV, microwave, sink and refrigerator

How many bays does your shop have?

22 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

1200+ customer pay ROs per month

What is your parts ordering process?

Highly skilled and tenured parts staff

What is your policy on side work?

No side work - immediate family only - husband, wife, mom, dad, son, daughter

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

All positions require continuous training and certification as a condition of employment

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

The dealership management strongly support and regularly promotes from within its current staff

Can you describe your performance review process?

Upon hire - management will evaluate and discuss expectations daily/weekly to ensure objectives are being met. After 90 days an official 90 day evaluation is written and documented with a copy for the employee and one for HR. Going forward, there is a daily/weekly objective VS goal review. Every year there is a formally written review that includes objectives, time and attendance, training, work area cleanliness and any future plans and individual objectives.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety training will be provided by ERS - Osha regulations, lifts use and maintenance, slips trips and spills, eye protections and Right to Know compliance are among several safety related training that will be required.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Students and apprentices will be assigned a master or senior master to mentor with. Initially, the main emphasis will be on basic maintenance and repair accuracy. Once this is signed off on by the master tech, the student will work on his own for a period of time until a general completion efficiency is achieved. The mentor adds base level training and certification programs and other maintenance and repairs tasks with a progressive pay plan. Once the training and certification and minimum flat rate hours are achieved, an offer will be made to enter the shop as a certified technician

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

All local community participation is requested through the general management and budgeted accordingly.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

The Chapman Auto Group staff actively participates in career fairs and student events.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

The auto industry is ever evolving - the buzz work today is electrification - total electric vehicles.

Once we receive the application, the department manager will contact you for a phone interview and then an in person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

At the in person interview, the department manager will give details about the position and complete a new hire survey. There will be a more detailed question and answer period and generally an introduction to other staff members, including the general manager

After completing the phone interview, in person interview and reference check, a background check, drivers license check and drug test are done

We do not have a skills assessment test

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $75,000 - $150,000/year

Flat Rate with Bonus

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $100,000/year

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $75,000/year

Flat Rate with Bonus as well as Hourly plans

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $45,000/year

Hourly/productive with Bonus

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $125,000/year

Service Managers are responsible for management and overall health of the shop. Service Managers are typically focused on running an efficient shop that meets their financial goals. Other responsibilities can include staffing, performance evaluations, and financial analysis amongst many other responsibilities.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $175,000/year

Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $38,000/hour
