Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop is heated. While we do not have air conditioning, we have large bay doors on both ends of the shop which allow significant air flow. During excessive summer heat we ensure that our technicians are provided Gatorade and ice pops to promote hydration.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently have a close knit team of 9 technicians with varying skill levels.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our shop hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm Saturdays.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Factory diagnostic & equipment is provided.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Air conditioned break room with flat screen tv.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our shop has 13 lifts, 2 flat bays and an alignment rack.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average between 700-800 vehicles serviced per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

After diagnosis is performed and repairs are approved by clients, our parts associates handle ordering and handling parts.

What is your policy on side work?

Family vehicles must be authorized by Service Management.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

All technicians complete continuing Ford training through STARS. Technicians are paid for online training and expenses such as food and gas are paid when off site training is required.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We pride ourselves in a "home grown" approach at Chapman. We believe in promoting from within and have many opportunities for growth both within our store and outside within our sister stores.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Initial review is completed at 90 days, and then 3 times annually to ensure that all employees are continuing to grow within their field.

What type of safety training is required?

A safe working environment is extremely important to us at Chapman. We have a safety committee with both members within all departments and outside of our company which meets monthly to assess any potential hazards and make continuous improvements.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our shop foreman works closely with entry level technicians to promote their individual growth. Additionally, we have a very cohesive team all of which are willing to lend a hand when needed.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Chapman is active in our local community and involved with multiple local trade schools.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We frequently visit local trade schools to encourage students considering entering the profession.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Our shop and customer base is continuously growing.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Our application is web based and can be completed in 10-15 minutes

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Applicants will meet with both the Service Manager and shop foreman. They will also meet with the General Manager when available.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Background & drivers license checks, as well as drug screenings are performed prior to hiring.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No.

Typical response time is within 1 week.

Our hiring process typically takes between 1-2 weeks depending on applicant completing background check and drug screening in a timely manner.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $75,000 - $150,000/year

Flat Rate with Bonus

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $100,000/year

Flat Rate with Bonus

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $75,000/year

Flat Rate with Bonus as well as Hourly plans

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $45,000/year

Hourly/productive with Bonus

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $125,000/year

Service Manager
Service Managers are responsible for management and overall health of the shop. Service Managers are typically focused on running an efficient shop that meets their financial goals. Other responsibilities can include staffing, performance evaluations, and financial analysis amongst many other responsibilities.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $175,000/year

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $38,000/hour

Collision Technician - A Level Pay Range: $65,000 - $150,000/year

RF with Bonus

Collision Painter Pay Range: $75,000 - $175,000/year
