Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The main shop is not air conditioned but common areas and break rooms are.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The size of the team is approximately 7-10 Technicians

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

The shop hours are 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Shifts are standard 8 hours.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Cadillac of South San Francisco supplies all specialty tools that are required to repair vehicles. MDI2's and Tech 2's. Every bay has their own computer. Technicians are required to provide their own hand and pneumatic tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a Technician lounge with microwave and amenities.

How many bays does your shop have?

We have 17 bays, including 1 alignment rack and 2 flat stalls.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We hope to average approximately 600 work orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

We use the parts ordering system built into the Tekion DMS.

What is your policy on side work?

No outside jobs allowed.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have a brand new state of the art facility with all brand new equipment.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

All technicians have a training plan and we participate in GM factory training that consists of web based courses as well as classroom training. We also have an inhouse mentorship program. We offer company paid tuition for further education initiatives.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Cornerstone often promotes from within the organization and is always interested in the advancement of our employees careers.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We do an a 3 month review on new hires as well as an annual performance review with follow-ups coaching.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety training is reviewed during orientation. We do comply with all OSHA safety standards.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have a robust apprenticeship mentoring program.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We are involved in many worthwhile charities and believe is supporting the local community.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We attend job fairs and are actively engaged in hiring apprentices.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We expect and are working towards being the number one Cadillac dealership in California!

We do not have an application form. We use the Indeed platform and resume submissions via email are acceptable as well.

We do phone screening prior to interviews, yes.

We have well thought out interview process with a goal of ensuring Cornerstone is the best fit for the individual and the perspective employee is a good fit for the position.

We do drug screening but do not do personality tests.

We do not do a skill assessment before hiring.

If the candidate is a good fit we like to act as quickly as possible.

The process will vary depending on the applicant and the position.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $45.00 - $70.00/hour

Depending on experiance. Signing bonus consideration depending on experiance. Production bonuses. Moving allowance consideration if required.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $25.00 - $50.00/hour

Depending on experiance. Signing bonus consideration depending on experiance. Production bonuses. Moving allowance consideration if required.
