The shop is heated, and we have a chiller.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

40 technicians is the goal 10 service advisors 2 service managers 2 parts specialists

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

7:00-5:00 Monday-Friday 7:00-5:00 Rotating Saturdays

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all specialty tools including tire machines, flush equipment, alignment racks, hydraulic press and diagnostic equipment.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Microwave, Fridge, TV with Cable, and plenty of seating with tables and chairs.

How many bays does your shop have?

48 in the main shop 120 total

How many repair orders do you average per month?

1,500

What is your parts ordering process?

Ordering is all done through our computer system. Technician sends the parts request digitally to the advisor who will approve the job. When it's approved everyone involved will get a verification. Technicians never have to leave their bay.

What is your policy on side work?

Immediate family work is allowed on the technicians own personal time.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We are a family owned and operated dealership that has been serving our community for the last 42 years. Our original owner is still involved with our business where everyone is treated as family not just a number.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer 3 different apprenticeship programs. This includes career paths for mainline technicians, transmission technicians and diesel technicians. We will cover the cost of any further education.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We will sit down and set out a career path and goals with our technicians. The growth possibilities are endless for the right technician. This includes service advisor and manager positions as well. During annual reviews we will make sure that we are still on the correct path and make adjustments if needed.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We run annual reviews. During the review we will discuss performance, productivity, quality of work, and align technicians career path and goals.

What type of safety training is required?

Compnet is our safety training partner. They come once a month for safety training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

One experienced technician will work with five junior techs. Technician is a non flagging/non producing tech whose goal is to help train and improve our junior techs. We also run a similar program for our transmission technicians and are in the process of setting up a program for our diesel technicians.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Donations to local sports teams, walking for health.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Currently we have a relationship with West Mec high school and UTI. We also participate in the Asset program (2 year program Ford offers) where technicians can work and get an education.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Our goal is put the best team around us as we possibly can. This includes anyone in the shop, to the front of the dealership and the office. This will help us grow as a dealership and individually in our professional careers.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We have a paper form application that takes about 20 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We usually try and have a quick conversation covering basic questions. Things like where they live, what they have for tools and a touch on their background.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Interviews are done with our Service Director. During the interview we will discuss candidates work history, certifications and tool collection. We also want to get to know the candidates personality and hobbies to make sure it's a good fit. There will also be shop and dealership tour.

Background check Drug screens, we do not test for alcohol or marijuana

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No official assessment, during the interview and discovery process is where we uncover the majority of the technicians skill set.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $60,000 - $150,000/year

Flat-rate pay scale Experience, productivity, tenure, certifications all will play factors in pay

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $40,000 - $100,000/year

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $40,000 - $80,000/year

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $30,000 - $60,000/year

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $40,000 - $120,000/year

Commission based pay, based on customer satisfaction and sales numbers.

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $16 - $22/hour
