Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop is heated, but not air conditioned.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

10 technicians on first shift 5 technicians on second shift 4 service advisors 1 service manager

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

The shop is open 7am-10pm. First shift works 6:30am-3:00pm, 7:00am-3:30pm, or 8:00am-4:30pm Second shift works 3:30pm-12:00am Technician hours are flexible around outside circumstances.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All Ford specialized tools, welders, battery testers, diagnostic tools, tire balancer, and alignment rack.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Combination locker room and technician break room. Has technician only bathrooms, fridge, microwave, pizza oven, tables benches. Separate locker room for female technicians.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our shop has 16 bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average roughly 500 repair orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are ordered on a daily basis through our on site parts department.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is allowed on own time and not on shop property, as long as it does not effect work hours.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Being a commercial truck center we deal with larger gas and diesel vehicles than the standard car shop would. Our shop also has a quick lane division which does deal predominately with retail vehicles.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, through Ford we have online training along with school training.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Through training one would have opportunities to advance as a technician, possibility of becoming a shop foreman, or move out of the shop into an advisor/administrative position.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Yearly reviews with manager about progress in skill, attendance, and attitude.

What type of safety training is required?

Upon being hired we have New Employee Orientation with our safety manager, whom covers all of our safety policies within the company. We have "Tool-Box Talks" semi-regularly, going over any safety issues observed by management or any safety concerns from technicians.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We pair new technicians with our Master Certified technicians to observe, learn from, and be instructed by, typically lasting 2-3 months, but varies on skill level of new technician. All of our technicians are willing to answer questions and help out if needed.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our dealership is partnered with the Menomonee Valley community, we encourage participation in any Menomonee Valley sponsored events.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have gone to speak local high schools and tech schools with automotive programs about the dealership and opportunities we have within the shop and for growth within the industry.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Being a dealership that opened in 1965 we intend to continue to grow with the times and begin to adapt towards the electric market as well as continue with our commercial gas and diesel customers.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We do have an application form and it takes roughly 10 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Not typically.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

An applicant would meet with the department hiring manager that would ask about experience, special skills related to automotive industry, why one is looking for a new position. Possible second interview with owners and/or other upper management.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We do background checks including driver history and drug screenings and phyiscal before hire.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No we do not, open to any skill level.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

It would take roughly 2-5 days to extend an offer and an individual for a drug screen and physical.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Roughly 2 weeks from application to hire, dependent on passing the drug screen.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $61,800 - $75,000/year

Journeyman Mechanic Wages are negotiable

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $35,400 - $61,800/year

Utility Mechanic Wages are negotiable

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $40,000/year

Wages are negotiable

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $40,000/hour

Part time employment would be available if you are a student at an accredited school.

Health Insurance Offered
We currently have three plans with differing deductibles to choose from. You can find a plan to fit your needs.
Dental Insurance Offered
We offer a dental plan that is administered by Delta Dental. There is $1000 per year available. Most major services are covered at 100% up to the $1000 year max.
Vision Insurance Offered
Vision Insurance is very inexpensive and allows for new glasses or contacts yearly.
Retirement Plan Offered
Pension available to some employees. 401(k) with match available to all full time employees.
Sick Leave Offered
Union members have a benefit called Sickness and Accident pay. You would be eligible for $360.00 per week from the first day in cases of accident or hospitalization or eighth day in case of sickness.
Vacation Offered
Vacation/PTO differs between union and non-union employees.
Paid Holidays Offered
After probation period all employees would be eligible for up to seven paid holidays throughout the year. Union members are also eligible for two floating holidays.
ST / LT Disability Offered
Aflac plans are available for you. These would be paid by the employee through payroll deductions.
Life Insurance Offered
The first of the month after 30 days of employment you will receive $25,000 of life insurance coverage at no cost to you.
Uniforms Offered
Uniforms are provided at no cost to you.
