Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Shop is heated via Clean Burn Heater.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Currently Auto Source has one Level A Tech and an Apprentice.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Auto Source is open from 7:30am-5:30pm Monday - Friday. No weekends, No late nights.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Auto Source offers GM (TDS/SDS), Ford (IDS), and Chryslers (Wi-tech2, DRB-III) OEM Tools to perform diagnostics. We also have an up to date Gscan-3. We have a Hawkeye Elite Alignment Machine. iPad Tablets for each technician. Autel TPMS and Tire Tread Tool.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Auto Source has an air conditioned waiting room and small break room. We provide bottled water, soda, energy drinks, snacks. . . Essentially you can request a beverage or snack of choice and it will be provided in the break room.

How many bays does your shop have?

5 bays. 1 Dry bay, 3 2post Hoist, 1 Alignment rack.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

100, busy enough to get closed to 120-130 with more staff.

What is your parts ordering process?

Service Writer writes all tickets and orders all parts.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is not recommended but not enforced. Side work can not be performed on location.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We try to have fun every day. We have a lunch meeting every week with food provided from local restaurants paid for by the company.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Always offering training when available. We will pay for the training and certifications.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Auto Source is not a large company, we focus on staying local to ensure no customer or employee feels like they are just another number.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We do not run a typical 30/60/90 day review. Nor do we strive to sit you down yearly and go over your failures or accomplishments. More over, we strive to focus on your growth daily and notate your accomplishments every week at our lunch meetings.

What type of safety training is required?

A brief walk through during the interview process is all that is required.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We strive to encourage the younger generation to join the automotive industry.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

The Owner is apart of a local Tech Center Program. We are a large contributor to the local high school team sports. We also sponsor one of Michigans largest car shows right here in Coopersville.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Joined a local Career Tech Center Automotive program to help encourage more students to join and grow in this industry.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Looking to expand the location to have more bays including an area to perform autonomous calibrations

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Our Application form is a standard application form that shouldnt take any longer than 5-10 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

A phone call is a quick way to see if our energy is compatable. We prefer to have a short call before setting up any in-person interviews to ensure we can work together.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We often have 2 in-person interviews. One interview is with the owner. This interview is to get a better understanding of what you are looking for and what we have to offer. We understand your time is valuable and we do not want to waste your time with longwinded interviews. The second interview is with the team. It is set so you can meet who you will be working with and they can see who will be working with them. Both parties are encouraged to ask questions about each other and offer information. The owner is not present or part of the second interview.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We do not currently perform drug testing or back ground checks at this time. A personality test is something we are looking to start with our interview process but is not manditory at this time.

No

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Typically we like to respond within the next 24 hours with a rejection or offer.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Typically we can hire someone within a week or two based on both parties schedules and availability.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $50,000 - $90,000/year

Offering a Hybrid pay scale. You are paid hourly for being here. Based on the amount of hours you produce in any given week, your hourly wage increases the more you produce.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $36,000 - $65,000/year

Offering a Hybrid pay scale. You are paid hourly for being here. Based on the amount of hours you produce in any given week, your hourly wage increases the more you produce.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $50,000/year

All major holidays, if a holiday falls on a weekend we take the day closes to the holiday off. Christmas eve we grab breakfast together and only work a half day. New years eve is also only a half day. We do not work the Friday after Thanksgiving.
