Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

We do not have an air conditioned shop but do have plenty of fans , great ventilation and gas heaters for when the weather gets cooler.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently run two teams in two shops. First is what we call our car the shop where we mainly focus on smaller gas engines as well as our foreign vehicles although there are plenty of V-8's in this shop. Our second shop is what we call our truck shop where we mainly focus on commercial , heavy duty vehicles and diesels but there are plenty of gas vehicles in this shop also.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We have techs that start at 7:00 and work till 5:00 and we have some that start at 8:00 and work till 6:00. Some of our techs drive in from surrounding towns and we do our best to accommodate there needs as we can.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all major service equipment and ask the technician provide all basic hand tools and any power tools they prefer for there personal use.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a large air conditioned break room with a refrigerator , microwave , television and plenty seating. We have similar break rooms at both shops.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our truck shop has 14 bays and car shop has 26 days. Both shops also have a modern hunter alignment rack.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Busy is normal for us some so we see 1400 to 1500 total repair orders a month.

What is your parts ordering process?

We have two dedicated parts people that handle all the technician parts needs. The ordering process is normally handled directly between the technician and parts person.

What is your policy on side work?

We know that many technicians use there skills outside work at times. This is not a problem for us as long as it does not effect the employees performance or Atzenhoffer Chevrolet in any way.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We feel working at Atzenhoffer Chevrolet is unique in the fact that it is one of the last family owned stores , has a well established customer base and operates on a family based atmosphere. With so many corporate stores these days we feel this makes us unique.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

The automotive world is always changing. We offer factory training to keep pace with the ever changing product.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Atzenhoffer Chevrolet always prefers to promote from within. There are many stories of people how have started at entry level positions and grown to senior level or managers in there departments.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have an annual employee review process were each employee sets down one on one with there manager and has a discussion about there performance , areas for improvement , potential for growth , future goals and any support Atzenhoffer Chevrolet can offer to make these goals a reality.

What type of safety training is required?

We train employees standard shop safety as well as proper equipment operation.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We do believe that youth is the future of our industry as well as our company. We have had many success stories were a young person will start working with one or more of our veteran employees and develop the skills to work on there own. This is all based on skill level , goals and aptitude.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Atzenhoffer Chevrolet has always been involved in our local community on many levels. We always approach this as a team. Team Atzenhoffer.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We do try to work with our local high school automotive program to encourage involvement in our industry as well as possible employment with Atzenhoffer Chevrolet

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Atzenhoffer Chevrolet has been in business since 1926 and the automotive industry has evolved in countless ways in that time and will continue to do so. We to continue to evolve as needed as well.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Anyone wishing to join the team can go to atzenhoffer.com , go to the about us tab and drop down to the employment and fill out the application. It's pretty quick and simple and we will normally respond right away.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

In some instances when a person is interested in applying with us but distance is an issue we can always speak over the phone to start but any final decisions will be after an in person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Our in person interviews are usually one on one discussions with the service manager.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We ask all protentional employees be willing to submit to a standard back ground check as well as drug screen for insurance and safety purposes.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We do not perform any skill assessment before hiring. We do our best to assess the applicants skill level during the interview process and offer them positions based on these skills as well as future goals and growth.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

The applicant will normally get a response right away. Usually at the end of the in person interview process.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

After an applicant is offered and excepts a position with us the next step is the background check and drug screen. The result normally only takes three to four days.

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $12.00 - $16.00/hour

Automotive Technician Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $200,000.00/year

We do offer Blue Cross / Blue Shield health insurance with premiums based on income. Health insurance becomes available after an employee has been with the company for 90 days.

We do have a 401k retirement plan that becomes available after an employee has been with the company one year.
