3 advisors/office staff and 4 techs

8-6. Techs 8-5 or 9-6, most choose 8-5.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Scanners, press, AC equipment, electrical system testing, speciality tools, etc

It is pretty small as we have a small building, but most people leave for lunch/break.

How many bays does your shop have?

7 hoists and 8 bays, enough room behind each hoist to fit in another car

295

What is your parts ordering process?

Typically all handled by front office, if technician can put labor and parts on a job in the estimating process, that's great, but not required

Not allowed. Employees can work on their own cars in the shop with the approval of management.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Small, tight-knit group. We are flexible with schedules and value the quality of life our staff have.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, typically whatever techs want. The company pays for the class, sometimes pays for hours while at class. Biggest problem we have is finding decent training for hybrids and EV's

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We are pretty much on the cutting edge of the automotive business technology-wise. Considering adding Tesla in 2022. As we continue to refine our processes and improve, we aim to increase wages and continue profit sharing. The industry is going more and more towards hybrids and EVs and our position on the forefront encourages career growth. We like to keep people long term!

Can you describe your performance review process?

Annually, although since COVID, we have been slacking due to so much going on.

What type of safety training is required?

Basic high voltage training provided as needed

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have tried this, and hence are looking for an A level tech rather than trying to train apprentices. Training on the job is tough when you are as small as we are.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Not much since COVID. Helped get Oregon Senate Bill SB803 going to help stop cat theft last year

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Resume/job fairs at PCC

Remaining on the forefront of the Portland independent hybrid/EV repair market

No application until hire

Meeting with a third party consultant, then meeting with our management if we decide to move forward
