What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

13 employees plus 2 owners so a total of 15 people.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

7:30am - 5:00pm We have a morning meeting @ 7:30am every morning in the shop to go over the day, if anyone needs anything, any broken equipment/tools that need to be fixed or replaced.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Autel Scanner, Zeus Scanner, Bore Scope, TPMS programming tool, R134A & R1234YF AC machines, Autel brake pad wear/tire depth gauge, multiple styles of specialty jacks, specialty tools for timing component installation, Hunter Hawkeye Elite Alignment Machine, Hunter TCX53 mounting machine, Hunter Road Force Elite tire balancer, and more.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a lunch room with snacks, breakfast, and drinks stocked at all the time.

How many bays does your shop have?

We have 12 lifts, a 4 post,s and an alignment machine

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We do 200-300

What is your parts ordering process?

Once the technician has inspected the vehicle the Parts Advisor will put the estimate together and then the Service Advisor will sell the job and then parts are ordered by the Parts Advisor.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not allow side work to be done at the shop. A family vehicle or personal vehicle is ok before or after hours as long as it is approved by ownership unless it is being run through the shop during work hours and they are paying the shop rate.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer a lot of training. We do Car Gurus, ASE training, Vendor provided specialty training, Online Napa Training, Napa Autotech Training, Harsco Hyrail, 1G & 2G Emissions Testing for Nevada, and Hunter Alignment Training.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Technicians can start with our Napa Apprentice Program we offer and go through the training go to the Journeyman stage and get their ASE's and smog license and advance to a Master level.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We do reviews at the employee's 90 days, 6 months, and a year. After that, it is every 6 months.

What type of safety training is required?

Forklift Training, Jack/Lift & hoist training, and Safety policies are in place at our shop.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Master Technicians mentor apprentices throughout the growth of their careers.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We host a Car Care Day at the Discovery Museum downtown every year. Our Napa Auto Care group has gotten together and we have all chipped in to repair some vehicles and donate them to a person in need.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We donate vehicles to them for use in training. We judge Skills USA for Automotive locally and nationally.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

No, we do not. We like to do an in-person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Sitting with the shop foreman and ownership to go over the applicant's skills, and certifications they might have, talk about what it looks like working at A Master Mechanic. We get to know the applicant a little bit and see what their weaknesses are and the strengths are for the position they are being hired for.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Once hired we do a DISC assessment test. It is basically a test of your personality and how to approach things with that employee.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, we just talk about their skills.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

It all depends if management would like to do a second interview, hire you on the spot, or if we have more interviews that day.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Usually within 3-5 Business days.

A Technician Pay Range: $79,560.00 - $135,000.00/year ($38.25 - $64.90/hr)

This includes base pay and the bonus structure that you will receive based on billable hours. Lunch is paid for daily for all employees and cooked onsite. We have vacation pay, great medical, dental and vision insurance, a Simple Roth plan, Aflac, Christmas Savings Plan, and more.

Health Insurance Offered
Hometown Health - Employee is eligible at 90days. First 3 years we pay 50% of employee's premium and they pay the other half. Once the employee has been with the company 3 years we pay 100% of premium. You can put dependents on your premium but we do not pay for them. The employee is 100% responsible for the dependents.
Dental Insurance Offered
Principal - Employee is eligible at 90days. First 3 years we pay 50% of employee's premium and they pay the other half. Once the employee has been with the company 3 years we pay 100% of premium. You can put dependents on your premium but we do not pay for them. The employee is 100% responsible for the dependents.
Vision Insurance Offered
Principal - Employee is eligible at 90days. First 3 years we pay 50% of employee's premium and they pay the other half. Once the employee has been with the company 3 years we pay 100% of premium. You can put dependents on your premium but we do not pay for them. The employee is 100% responsible for the dependents.
Retirement Plan Offered
We offer a Simple IRA. Employee is eligible at 90 day. We match up to 3% contribution.
Sick Leave Offered
Employee is eligible for sick leave once they have been here for 3 years. The employee will receive 1 stick day per quarter. They do not roll over to the next year.
Vacation Offered
Employee's are offered Vacation time as follows: (This is based off your hire date) 1 year employment - 1 week. 3 years employment - 2 weeks 5 years employment - 3 weeks Vacation time you are able to roll over to the following year.
Paid Holidays Offered
Our paid Holiday's are as follows: New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day
ST / LT Disability Offered
We offer Aflac. Aflac is 100% paid for by the employee.
Life Insurance Offered
We offer a $15,000 life insurance policy that we pay 100%
Uniforms Offered
Your uniforms are delivered every Monday. We have them washed weekly. The employee has a spot to hang them in the employee area and there is a dirty clothes hamper they go in so they can be picked up on Monday's to be washed.
Other Offered
We cook lunch for everyone every day. We always have breakfast stuff, snacks and drinks at all times, either upstairs in our lunchroom or downstairs in the waiting area.
