Total Clean Apprentice Technician
Job Title: Total Clean Mechanic Apprentice/Shop Assistant
Department: Service
Reports to: Total Clean Service Manager/Shop Foreman/Service Advisor
Job Summary:
To qualify for this position, you must have basic mechanical experience. Individual will work under the supervision of the Service Manager/Shop Foreman and will receive work assignments and a schedule from the Service Advisor, on a daily basis. Individual will perform assigned tasks per schedule and process all required documentation. Individual must be able to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff.
This is a paid apprentice/internship position, which is intended to be a springboard, for the right individual, to eventually grow into a Total Clean Mechanic position, depending on the needs of the division.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ability to follow direction and perform tasks assigned by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman, in indoor or outdoor applications and in dirty or foul environments.
- Ability to learn how to perform Preventative Maintenance on customer’s equipment.
- Ability to learn how to perform Preventative Maintenance on Company owned equipment.
- Ability to report and track time worked on jobs accurately.
- Ability to complete repair orders as outlined with efficiency and accuracy.
- Ability to determine the proper tools and equipment needed for a job.
- Ability to learn how to operate, monitor and control equipment or systems to diagnose and perform repairs on equipment.
- Ability to learn how to inspect equipment to determine if additional work is required.
- Ability to remain stationary, position or traverse equipment to properly complete repairs. Also must be able to position parts up to 50 pounds into place for proper removal and/or installation.
- Ability to save and tag parts per factory warranty guidelines, on all warranty repairs.
- Ability to notify Shop Foreman/Service Advisor if additional work is required or items listed on service order are not needed.
- Ability to notify Shop Foreman/Service Advisor if repairs cannot be completed within time frame promised.
- Assist technicians in the shop and field as required
- Perform misc tasks around the Shop. Routine cleaning, 5S responsibilities as required
- Perform misc driving duties, delivery/pickup of vehicles and/or parts as required
- Assist with organization of Shop Supplies
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have 0-2 years of mechanical experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Must be able to follow directions, without drifting or wavering.
- Must be able to ask questions, when directions are unclear.
- Must be able to take constructive criticism and learn from your mistakes.
- Must be willing to complete additional tasks as directed by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman (i.e. cleaning the shop or yard, throwing away trash, cleaning tools, cleaning equipment, cleaning units, organizing, etc.).
- Must have the ability to work well with customers as well as internal staff.
- Must be Timely, Accurate and Positive.
- Must keep shop and work space clean.
- Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and report any safety issues and accidents to manager.
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, squat and sit for long periods of time as repair requires.
- Must be able to work overhead for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to push and/or pull with up to 25lbs of pressure.
- Ability to grasp and hold tools with both hands as repair requires.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- 2+ years of mechanical experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Prior experience working on product lines that we offer.
- Desire to work towards becoming a Total Clean Mechanic.
