What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Mon-Friday: 7:30A - 6:00P Saturday: 8:00A - 4:00P Sunday: CLOSED shifts are either 7:30-4:30 or 800-5:00

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

OEM special tools available in-shop and all express tools are provided.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Large breakroom with big screen tv, fridge/freezer, microwaves, A/C and vending machines.

How many bays does your shop have?

26 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

2,810

What is your parts ordering process?

We stock many popular OEM parts in-house. If not in stock, special order as needed.

What is your policy on side work?

Strictly prohibited.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We provide toolboxes and workbenches to all technicians.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We have a corporate training for basics/intro level technician training, as well as getting comfortable with Xtime inspection tool and media usage for inspections. We also pay for technicians to go to manufacturer training and get certified in all the necessary skills all the way up to Master level. Continued education via online and classroom training. We also have tuition reimbursement plans for courses taken while employed.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

There are advancement opportunities available both at our location as well as in our entire organization.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have an initial 60 day review as well as annual reviews unless it is required to have more at other intervals.

What type of safety training is required?

There are corporate level interactive video trainings and any required manufacturer training courses.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our tenured technicians do a great job of mentoring and teaching new technicians

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Tom Wood is very involved in the community. We are the main sponsor for the automotive education at Ivy Tech Community College. We have an annual golf outing for the American Cancer Society. We have a toy drive for YMCA each year. We are also involved with Lincoln Tech, Wyotech, and J Everett Light Career Center.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Our corporate trainer recently recruited a few people from J Everett Light Career Center, which is a local high school level career center. We also invest in and recruit from Lincoln Tech and Ivy Tech locally, as well as Wyotech nationally.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we screen applications and resumes to check employment history, experience, etc.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Usually the first interview is one-on-one with the service manager. For some positions, we will have a second interview or bring the GM in for the interview.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

A Level Technician Pay Range: $28.00 - $31.00/hour

Productivity bonus

B Level Technician Pay Range: $25.00 - $26.00/hour

Productivity bonus

C Level Technician Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00/hour

Productivity bonus

Lube Technician Pay Range: $17.00 - $18.00/hour

401K option is available for employees that are eligible based on age restrictions on the first of the month after 90 days of employment. Employer match of 25% of the first 6% saved. Fully vested after 6 years.

3 days PTO after 90 days of employment. Renews annually.

1 week vacation after 1 year of employment. 2 weeks at 2 years of employment. 3 weeks at 5 years of employment.
