Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Each technician works on his own, but we have a team size of 22 technicians.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Shop hours are 7 AM to 6 PM Monday thru Friday, Saturday from 7 AM to 2 PM. Due to the hours we have employees fill in shifts.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide computers, diagnostic equipment, normail shop equipment for us. Lube bays have tools provided the oil change technician use.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Air conditioned break room with refrigerator and microwave.

How many bays does your shop have?

How many repair orders do you average per month?

2800

What is your parts ordering process?

SPG, communicate thru DMS or walk in.

What is your policy on side work?

You cannot compete with the company.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Ongoing training using manufacturer program - training is paid. We also pay for ASE.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have service managers, service directors, parts managers, master technicians that started as wash bay porters and oil change technicians.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Reviews are based on individual employee effort.

What type of safety training is required?

We provide safety training thru KPA and the manufacturer

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

At this facility there are 3 techs that help mentor, throughout the group at any point there are12. They will work side by side if time allows and answer any questions that may come up.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We are involved thru Junior Achievement, local career centers, Teen Works, Flanner House, Employee Indy, Tinkerfest, sponsored Skills USA Regionals and any other resource to interest and mentor new people into our industry.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

See above - we are VERY involved.

Generally a face to face interview with 2 managers. Discussion includes background, certifications, career paths, and getting to know the candidate

C Level Technician Pay Range: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00/year

There really is no minimum or maximum. It is what you choose to produce. We strive to be competitive in flat rate wages. All technicians are allowed to do PDI and used cars reconditioning. We are never out of work. We pay production bonuses. We pay average day wages when at training.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $150,000.00/year

Tech bonus per hour after 45hrs, 55hrs, 65hrs and 75hrs.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $30,000.00 - $65,000.00/year

Tech bonus per hour after 45hrs, 55hrs, 65hrs and 75hrs.

Collision Technician - A Level Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00/year ($0.01 - $0.01/hr)

Service Advisor Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $110,000.00/year

Commission-based sales off of total sales, customer satisfaction bonus, incentive programs for product contests.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $20,000.00 - $50,000.00/year

Bonus structure for overall hours turned as a team.

Student Tech / Apprentice Pay Range: $12.00 - $15.00/hour

We have dozens of apprentices in the Ed Martin Automotive Group. We are looking for self motivated people with an outstanding work ethic. We do provide training and support thru the learning process.\
