What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The service department at Ed Martin Nissan Fishers consists of roughly 20 employees total including technicians, service advisors, warranty clerk, porters and cashier.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Ed Martin Nissan of Fishers is open from 7:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday, and 7:00am-2:00pm on Saturdays. Saturdays are for Express service, and we only have 1 master tech on Saturdays. Each mainline technician works 1 Saturday every 7 weeks.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Scan tools, alignment rack, transmission jack, engine stand, engine hoist, top side creeper, a/c machine, brake flush machine, power steering flush machine, and all Nissan specialty tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Inside and outside break rooms. Inside has fridge, microwave, coffee maker, air conditioning with table and chairs. Outside area has a picnic table and shade.

How many bays does your shop have?

13 2 post lifts 1 alignment rack 1 heavy duty truck rack 2 express bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?


What is your parts ordering process?

Technicians order parts needed for repairs through our parts department.

What is your policy on side work?

No side work allowed on Ed Martin property. Technicians may work on their own vehicles or family vehicle after hours.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

The Ed Martin Nissan culture is the best part about working at this dealership. We are a very close knit family with low turnover. We pride ourselves on treating people with respect and taking care of our people.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer on-site apprenticeship, express training, Nissan in-person classes at Nissan training facilities, and ASE reimbursement.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Yearly performance reviews are based on punctuality, workmanship, productivity and care of equipment.

What type of safety training is required?

Yearly KPA safety training is required.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Express technicians looking to become a master technician may apprentice with a main shop technician to learn more about the trade.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our owner Kathy Harrison is highly involved with the community. From fund raisers for kids and the local humane society as well as programs for at risk youth with job placement.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have a strong presence with the Ivy Tech automotive program as well as McKenzie Career Center.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We start with in person interviews.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Getting to know the candidate a little bit including job knowledge, background, job history, availability, and attitude.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

No background check required, no drug testing , no personality tests required.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Skill assessment will happen during the interview portion of the process.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

We like to get back to potential employees within 5 business days at the most.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

As little as 48hrs and up to 10 business days.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $150,000.00/year

Tech bonus per hour after 45hrs, 55hrs, 65hrs and 75hrs.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $30,000.00 - $65,000.00/year

Tech bonus per hour after 45hrs, 55hrs, 65hrs and 75hrs.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $20,000.00 - $50,000.00/year

Bonus structure for overall hours turned as a team.

Service Advisor Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $110,000.00/year

Commission-based sales off of total sales, customer satisfaction bonus, incentive programs for product contests.

Top Shop Challenge: What are a couple of things you'd like to highlight that happened last month?

Kpi was a huge focus for us and we ended January 2023 with a bang. We were able to achieve our goal we set for our team and concluded the month at Tier 1. This gives us a great start to the new quarter and the new year!

For the month of December we ended the quarter at Tier 1 for Kpi under Nissan standards which is a huge accomplishment for our team.
