About Us

Toyota of Portland is located in the heart of Portland, OR right off Interstate 5 and 84. We have been a part of the O'Brien Auto Group family since 2015. Our shop has 10 Express Bays and 40 Flat Rate bays with an average of 7,000 hours per month in our shop. We team with our local Toyota TXM Program to train our hourly technicians to become Flat Rate.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Technicians are paid on individual flagged hours not team structure. Most work is done individually but other technicians will assist when needed and time permits. We currently have 30 technicians with mixed levels of qualifications.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Saturday 7:00am - 6:00pm Shifts can vary based on business needs

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Toyota of Portland offers all Specialty Tools for shop usage. Toyota of Portland offers entry level tools for Hourly Technicians however all Technicians are encouraged to create their own supply of tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Toyota of Portland offers a lunchroom off the shop. We request all employees to take a meal period away from their bay.

What is your parts ordering process?

Technicians order parts with Parts Back Counter located right off the main shop next to the service drive. All parts will be received as soon as possible with most coming over night.

We ask all Technicians to continue their education, be it recertifying current certs or taking new certs. Our goal is to continue growth and get all technicians to Master certification

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We team our Master Technicians with our beginner Flat Rate Technicians. The Master technician does receive a bonus for mentoring.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Toyota of Portland has been and continues to give back to their community by supporting local charities and schools.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Toyota of Portland has a good relationship with numerous Tech Schools and local high schools teaming to show the opportunity for growth in our industry.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Continued growth with more hours based off our trends and Open Service Drive.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Toyota of Portland accepts applications online on our electronic recruiting site. Normally around 72 hours however process time can vary based on Background and Motor Vehicle Reporting processes

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, our Service Manager/Drive Manager will call each applicant to determine qualifiers before scheduling an in-person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Conversations regarding the position with the Service Manager, background in the industry and future goals discussed. A walk of our shop and an interview with the General Manager

This can vary depending on the timing and applicant count

1 week, but more time can be offered if notice period is needed.

Motor Vehicle Reports review any moving violation within the last 3 years and our Insurance company is extremely strict.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $40,000 - $150,000/year ($19.23 - $72.12/hr)

Flat Rate / Hourly top - $39.00 + Years of Service with Toyota factory and Toyota of Portland Your rate will be based on experience, ASEs, certifications, and tenure

B Level Technician Pay Range: $35,000 - $75,000/year

Varied based on flagged hours, based on experience, ASEs, certifications, and tenure

Service Advisor Pay Range: $45,000 - $150,000/year ($21.63 - $72.12/hr)

Advisors new to the drive and writing can be on the lower end of the list above, however with the Open Service Drive there are abilities to make $100,000+ a year. Pay is a base salary + commission

Health Insurance Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all Full Time employees Health insurance. Our current provider is a PPO navigated with the CIGNA network. Our plan offers coverage for all employees and the ability to also cover your spouse and children for additional cost. Eligibility happens the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. Example, if you start on April 15th, you would be eligible for the plan June 1st. All premiums are payroll deducted. Basic plan details: 1. $1,500 deductible per person 2. $3,000 out of pocket max
Dental Insurance Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all Full Time employees Dental insurance. Our current provider is navigated with the CIGNA network. Our plan offers coverage for all employees and the ability to also cover your spouse and children for additional cost. Eligibility happens the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. Example, if you start on April 15th, you would be eligible for the plan June 1st. Basic Plan details: 1. $50 deductible per individual 2. $1,500 per individual annual Max
Vision Insurance Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all Full Time employees Vision insurance. Our current provider is navigated with the CIGNA network. Our plan offers coverage for all employees and the ability to also cover your spouse and children for additional cost. Eligibility happens the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. Example, if you start on April 15th, you would be eligible for the plan June 1st. Basic Plan Details: 1. $20 copay for Vision exam every 24 months 2. Up to $200 every 24 months for Lenses/Frames/Contacts
Retirement Plan Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all Full Time employees who are over 21 of 401(k) plan. The plan offers the typical 401(k) but also Roth options. Eligibility happens the 1st of the quarter after 1 year of employment. Example, if you start on May 20th 2021, you would be eligible for the plan July 1st 2022. We offer a company match with a vesting period.
Sick Leave Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offer employees sick leave outlined by the state. Eligibility is immediate, however you are not eligible to draw down your balance until your 1st payroll after 90 days of employment.
Vacation Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all Full Time employees Vacation. Eligibility requirements are Full Time employment and 1 full year of service. After 1 year of employment you are eligible for 40 hours of vacation to be used during your Anniversary Year. After 7 years of employment you are eligible for 80 hours of vacation.
Paid Holidays Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all Full Time employees paid holidays. Holidays are determined each year and announced to employees. Eligibility happens the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. All employees must work the day before and the day after the Holiday to be eligible.
ST / LT Disability Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all Full Time employees Ancillary Life Insurance with Lincoln Financial Group. Eligibility happens the 1st of the month after 13 months of employment. Example, if you start on April 15th, you would be eligible for the plan May 1st of the following year.

Other Offered: O'Brien Auto Group offers all our Employee Assistance Program which is a 100% confidential plan which offers many resources for employees such as counseling, legal help, money management etc. Eligibility is immediate at start of employment.
