Shop Talk

Top Shop Challenge: Training is a hot topic for technicians looking for a good shop to work at. Talk about the training you provide your techs or highlight some individuals who recently completed training or earned certifications.

We attend 3-4 out of state training conferences a year. They range from Vision in Kansas City, ASTE in North Carolina, AAPEX in Las Vegas during SEMA. We have a few different online training websites to help with prep for ASE tests. We pay training hours and reimburse for passing ASE tests.

Top Shop Challenge: WrenchWay is conducting a technician pay survey because many believe the BLS data of $46k average pay is not reflective of the industry. Please comment on what someone at your shop can earn.

We did a compensation review last year and our salaries track near the middle to high end in Minnesota for billed hour flat rate technicians. We range from in $46,000-$105,000. This is due to our pay scale which reflects ASE tests, and average weekly hours, and diagnostic skill. We also pay $50 for every 5-star review a technician is involved in.
