Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
The shop does have heating. We currently do not have air conditioning, but we do have an ample amount of roof-mounted fans and airflow through the shop.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
We currently have 4 service writers along with 20 technicians.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. NO WEEKENDS!!!!
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
We have a tool room stocked with all specialty GM tools available for use.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have a small room with a refrigerator and microwave in the shop. We do have additional break rooms in the facility.
How many bays does your shop have?
We have 30 bays.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We average between 1000-1200 repair orders per month.
What is your parts ordering process?
Once the job is approved, parts will place the order. If parts are in stock, they will bring the parts out to the technician; if parts are not in stock, they will update the advisor and technician. Once the parts arrive, they send the advisor an email with a special order update to let the advisor know that the parts have arrived. If the vehicle is still here, they will bring the parts out to the technician.
What is your policy on side work?
We allow technicians to work on family member vehicles in the shop after hours and there is an open repair order on the vehicle.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We are closed on weekends!!!!
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We offer online training through GM, along with hands-on training with technician
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
We are always expanding and have a need for new positions to be filled. Through hard work and goal setting, our team can achieve all of their career goals
Can you describe your performance review process?
Individual performance reviews are conducted one time per year with monthly progress checks
What type of safety training is required?
We do online safety training through KPA.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
We have many GM master certified techs that are willing to help and mentor. They will be available to answer questions and work through repairs when time permits
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We are involved in the Corvette club of Louisiana.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We have spoken at many of the trade schools and high schools about the trade.
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?
All associates are expected to participate in a culture of continuous improvement and self-improvement.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes, We like to communicate before hand to make sure we are on the same page with goals and expectations.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
We like to get to know the applicant, do a facility tour, discuss goals, and discuss qualifications.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
We do background and motor vehicle record checks.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No formal skill assessment, assessment is done through the interview process
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
3-5 days.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Usually a week from start to finish, times may vary depending on background checks.
Experienced Automotive Technicians
Pay Range: $30.00 - $50.00/hour
Our pay is weekly flat rate pay based on the technician's certifications and skill set
Entry Level Automotive technician
Pay Range: $15.00 - $30.00/hour
Our pay is weekly flat rate pay based on the technician's certifications and skill set
Service Porter
Pay Range: $10.00 - $13.00/hour
Weekly Pay!! Opportunity for overtime as well.
