Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Yes, our shop is temperature-controlled with in-floor heat and Macro air fans overhead to help keep you comfortable no matter what the weather is like outside.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
The range is between 5 - 25 (depending on the shift you work).
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
We have 1st and 2nd shift available. We also offer 4-10s at some of our shops. Let us know if you're interested in learning more about flexible shift options.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Most of our technicians have their own tools. Let us know if you need assistance or have additional questions about what we have available for all techs.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We offer modern break rooms and facilities (including private lockers). Break rooms have TVs, fridges, freezers, kitchenettes with coffee machines, etc.
How many bays does your shop have?
Our Twin Cities locations have 20 bays in South Saint Paul and 18 bays in Coon Rapids with a 6-bay body shop and paint booth.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We average 500 repair orders/month.
What is your parts ordering process?
Parts are ordered through our online program, and are delivered directly to the service technician who placed the order when they are available.
What is your policy on side work?
We have a strict no moon-lighting policy. ****No outside work without manager permission.****
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
Both of our Twin Cities metro locations are state-of-the-art and were built in 2018. They feature wifi-enabled systems, wash bays, a DPF cleaning room, and our Coon Rapids (north metro) location has paint booths and a frame repair system. Every technician gets their own laptop, and you can bring it home if you choose to complete extra training and advance your career! Our shops are environmentally friendly with high efficiency rollup and down doors in our drive-through write-up/diagnosis bay, and motion censored lighting in shared workspaces. Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Yes, we offer complimentary OEM certification training through PACCAR and Kenworth to all technicians. Each technician gets their own laptop and can use that for training and continuing education. We also offer onsite training rooms. All training and education are paid for by Rihm.

Can you describe your performance review process?
Rihm utilizes the Entrepreneurial Operating System to streamline operations and achieve our vision. Through Traction Tools, we efficiently manage projects, document processes, and conduct meetings. Every 90 days, managers hold "quarterly conversations" with their team members. During these check-ins, they discuss any areas where you may need support, gather your ideas for improvement, and address any issues that may need attention.
What type of safety training is required?
Safety is a very important topic in Rihm. We have online training that is allocated to all employees starting from when they are employed and also on as needed basis.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Our Master Techs and lead technicians help train techs who are new to the career. We also have in-house trainers. If you have questions, there is always someone willing to help out and provide you with help and answers

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Yes! Rihm provides scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary education in a heavy-duty diesel, trucking-related field to encourage youth to consider careers in trucking through the Minnesota Trucking Association Foundation. And Rihm provides internships for students in local school district programs, like the Twin Cities south metro Tri-District Career & College Readiness Program, allowing them to participate in meaningful work experiences and projects during their junior and senior years of high school.
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?
The management of Rihm Family Companies invests heavily in the development of their employees. In addition to all listed above, we invite external speakers or trainers such as Willow Sweeney to work with our teams in all locations as often as possible.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes. Our hiring manager or an HR representative will contact you to get to know you better and ask some preliminary questions. Typically, our phone screening takes about 15-30 mins.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Our in-person interviews include an onsite tour. We would love to show you our shop and give you the opportunity to get to know your future team. During this stage in the process, we talk more technical. We will discuss your experiences, skillset and expertise. We will talk about the value you add to our team, and the value you get from us, as your employer. This gives you the opportunity to ask all the questions you might have regarding our company and working for Rihm! Our face-to-face interview typically take about 1hr to 2hrs at the most, depending on the position.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
All offers by Rihm Family Companies are contingent on passing the background checks and drug screening. In event of past mistakes, we are willing to give second chances and accommodations as we deem fit. We do not perform personality tests.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No, we do not.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
24 hours at the most
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Approximately 1-2 weeks (depending on how quickly you work through the process).
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?
Drug testing can sometimes cause delays, but we will stay in contact with you to ensure you are updated and know what to expect.

Pay Range: $21.72 - $27.50/hour
