Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop is heated and well ventilated. There is no AC but very mild climate in North Idaho.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our teams are all set up to have 3-4 technicians on them, each work with their own service advisor.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our service department is open 7 days a week, with Express Maintenance only on Sundays. Our technicians work a rotating 4-10 schedule.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Parker proves all Toyota special service tools, tire machines, mount and balancers, break lays, flushing machines, fuel coolant transmissions, welders, alignment racks, and many others! Service Technicians are expected to have their own hand tools

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a climate controlled break room with fridges, vending machines and TV.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our shop has 28 bays with 2 alignment racks.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average 5500 repair orders a month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are typically in stock; Special order parts upon repair.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not allow side work to be done on site as it is an insurance issue.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Toyota training. We offer tuition reimbursement for techs that want to further their training and education. Partnership with local technical high school and Toyota T-Ten program.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We believe in growing and investing in our people. We look to promote internally first, always. We offer paid schooling, classes, and trainings to our technicians.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have a 60 day performance review and then annually on your work anniversary.

What type of safety training is required?

We operate our safety procedures according to OSHA standards and will train new employees on our procedures.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We will pair a newer apprentice technician up with one of our senior technicians to help them learn the processes and gain knowledge of the product they are working with.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Parker is very involved with the community. Every year we donate three cars to local high schools to raise money for their athletics and activities. We have a food pantry that we keep stocked for community members in need. We partner with many local organizations to support them throughout the year including Children's Village, Kootenai Humane Society.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

The local community college technical building is named the Parker Technical Building for Parkers support and involvement with the program. Also involved at the local high school technical program - KTEC.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we have a basic phone screen to ensure schedules and compensation align for both the candidate and Parker Toyota.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In-person interviews typically start with the HR Director, from there the candidate meets with the Service Manager.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We perform background checks, drug screening (not to include marijuana) and check driving records.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, we do not.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Typically around 2-3 days, but can be up to 1 week.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

We like to make our interview and hiring process as quick and efficient as possible. We hope to make the entire process about one week. If you have lived in multiple states, the background check will prolong the process.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00/year

Flat rate technician, pay based upon certifications and qualifications

B Level Technician Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00/year

Flat rate technician, pay based upon certifications and qualifications

C Level Technician Pay Range: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00/year

Flat rate or hourly technician, pay based upon certifications and qualifications

Service Advisor Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00/year

Commission based pay plan

Lube Technician Pay Range: $37,500.00 - $45,000.00/year

Hourly technician

Collision Technician - A Level Pay Range: $35,000.00 - $55,000.00/year

Flat rate payed technician

Student Tech / Apprentice Pay Range: $15.00 - $17.00/hour

Hourly pay plan as you learn under some of our master technicians.
