The Carlock family automotive business has a rich history dating back to 1967, when we were awarded our first franchise in Blytheville, Arkansas. Grover “Clay” Carlock, Jr. grew up immersed in the family business, working his way through various roles within the dealership during his formative years and throughout college. After graduating, Clay was awarded the Nissan sales and service point in Blytheville, marking the beginning of his leadership journey. Under Clay’s visionary guidance, the Carlock Automotive Group has expanded to encompass 15 brands and eight state-of-the-art facilities across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Under The Hood
Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Our shop is fully heated and air conditioned!! Plus it has rubberized flooring for grip.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
We have 6 brands on site and each team brand has assigned technicians. We have a total of 11 bays with 10 technicians on staff.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
We run a split shift. one shift is 7:30am to 4:30pm and the 2nd shift is 9am - 6pm.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
We provide all the manufacturer special tools plus A/C machines, Battery testing equipment etc. We use Hunter alignment and tire work equipment.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have a break room for the whole dealership which is equipped with 2 microwaves, fridge plus a drinks fridge just for the technical staff to use which is restocked weekly.
How many bays does your shop have?
We have 11 bays plus 1 alignment rack
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We averaged 239 repair order per month for the last 12 month period October '23 - October '24. We averaged 4.28 hours per ro in that same time frame.
What is your parts ordering process?
Parts are estimated using Xtime online tools and then ordered via a 3 man parts team once those repairs are approved by the client.
What is your policy on side work?
No side work allowed. A technician may work on their own car or immediate family outside of work hours with a repair order generated.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We offer the Carlock University to help our employees gain valuable insights into the automotive landscape.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
We love to grow technicians from an apprentice to a master level technician.
Can you describe your performance review process?
We review technician performance annually.
What type of safety training is required?
Basic safety skills would be expected for any incoming technician.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
I try to hire younger technicians who are then paired with more experience technicians to aid in the growth. The trainee technician would typically shadow the main technician for approx. two weeks before starting to assist with maintenance services before then assisting on repair procedures.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
There are no current events planned within the community.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We offer the ability to have a work experience or apprenticeship during the school year to add real-world experience to their curriculum.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Typically not. I always prefer to meet face-face.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
An in-person interview consists of a meeting with the service manager to outline career goals and an overview of the shop and how we operate here at Carlock. We then have the candidate meet with 1-2 current technicians to dive deeper on skill set analysis and general competency.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
We perform a background check along with a drug screening.

Typically 7-10 days to review applicant and shop fitment.
