Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Yes.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
Currently have 4 technicians. One apprentice, 2 Master and one Certified. We have another Master that is currently deployed and will return soon.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
The service department is open 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Technician hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Shop has the latest Hunter tire mounting and balancing and alignment equipment. We have a good selection of Audi Special Service Tools and continue to add to them. Each technician has a Rotary Lift brand workstation which includes tool box and overhead storage.
What type of break room facility is provided?
There is an air conditioned break room adjacent to the service department. Includes refrigerator, sink and microwave oven.
How many bays does your shop have?
13 stalls plus an alignment rack.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
Averaging 300 repair orders a month with demand for 550 a month.
What is your parts ordering process?
Full -time parts person located within the Audi service department. Dual screens so technician and parts person can properly identify needed parts.
What is your policy on side work?
We allow technicians to work on family member vehicles in the shop after hours and there is an open repair on the vehicle.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
New facility - opened March of 2021. Vehicles enter shop via a high speed overhead door. The service department is adjacent to the service drive with easy access to service advisors.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We support and allow technicians to pursue all Audi certification levels. Technicians are also required to participate in CARLOCK University online training classes.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
There are three other OE brands on our campus - Volkswagen, Volvo and Porsche. Technicians have historically been able to move up or to another brand if they desire and there is an opening.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Individual performance reviews are conducted one time per year with monthly progress checks.
What type of safety training is required?
Standard safety training on equipment and Right to Know.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
All technicians are expected to coach and mentor apprentice technicians but the primary responsibility is with our shop foreman/lead technician.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We participate in annual Toys for Tots toy drives.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We have relationships with a community college in South Alabama and another in Southern Mississippi.
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?
All associates are expected to participate in a culture of continuous improvement and self improvement.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Service Director conducts first phone interview to determine candidate is a good fit for team.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Candidates will initially meet with Service Director. The shop foreman/lead technician conducts the balance of the interview.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
A background check and drug screen must be successfully completed prior to being hired.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
Shop foreman/lead technician will conduct a skills assessment during the in-person interview process.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Service Director and shop foreman will compare notes on the candidate and make the decision within 1 or 2 days of the interview.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Two to three weeks.
Journeyman Technician
Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00/year
($36.06 - $55.29/hr)
We offer a monthly productivity bonus - 180 flat rate hours + $1,00/hour, 200 flat rate hours + $2.00/hour, 230 flat rate hours + $3.00/hour retroactive to the first flat rate hour produced. We also offer a technician retention bonus - $1.00 is accrued for every flat rate hour produced in a calendar year and given as a bonus the middle of December. Technician must be employed full-time for the full calendar year (January - December).
