Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
The shop has heating as well as swamp coolers.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
Team size vary greatly based on specific role and department. Can be anything from solo to 7 plus.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Shop hours are 7:00-6:00 Monday through Friday & 8:00-5:00 on Saturdays. Generally, five days a week, able to be flexible on days off based on your needs.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
We provide all tools needed with exception to the basic technician tools that they own. Example would be all special tools needed by the manufacturer, computers for diagnostic, wheel balancers, tire mounting machines, brake lathes, A/C machines, fluid flush machines etc.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have one service breakroom with a microwave, fridge, ice machine and Direct TV.
How many bays does your shop have?
The main shop has 34 bays including 4 accessories bay and an alignment machine, and a tire machine.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We average approximately 2500 ROs a month across Toyota, Ford/Lincoin, Kia, Express Lanes, Reconditioning and Accessories.
What is your parts ordering process?
Parts requisitions are submitted digitally, pulled by parts department and placed in technicians parts bin in the shop for retrieval.
What is your policy on side work?
Employees personal use after hours and when not scheduled is allowed but needs prior approval from Fixed Operations Director.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Ongoing improvement is a core value of ours. We believe in not accepting the status quo, in constant improvement and in the value of ongoing education. Employees are sent to trainings to build knowledge, keep up with current technology and industry trends.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Career growth depends on the individual. Growth plans are created for individual employees which are discussed during one- on -one meetings with manager. We look to promote from within first.
Can you describe your performance review process?
As part of the onboarding process a first impression review as well as a 30 and 60 day are distributed and discussed. Monthly one on ones, yearly reviews and daily check-ins with management.
What type of safety training is required?
We have adopted the Team Safety program throughout the dealership and assign trainings based on job descriptions and OSHA requirements. Weekly safety walks are conducted.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Apprentices are paired with senior technicians and are provided written expectations for career growth. They work hand in hand so the apprentice can acquire adequate skill sets to expand their career knowledge. We promote a team environment which encourage training and development.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Our Value of Being a Good Community Citizen: We give willingly to and are actively involved in the support of our communities, because they provide us success. The dealership has quarterly opportunities to participate in various community outreach programs.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We currently work with local technical schools and high school aged students to provide jobs in our express lane as well as apprentices to main line technicians. We also have apprentices through the T-Ten program.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes, the hiring coordinator will schedule a phone interview after application has been received and reviewed.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
A leadership styles assessment and a Wonderlic assessment are administered. Our company Strategy to Win is presented and then the manager of the department as well as another service manager will conduct the interview.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes, a basic background check is required. A DISC profile is also requested. This assessment clarifies how we express emotions into the 4 behavioral types. This helps us learn who would be great mentors as well as the best ways to communication with employees.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
We do not generally perform a skills assessment before hiring.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Depending on the position usually 48 hours or less.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Depending on the position and scheduling 2-5 days.
Detail Department Manager
Pay Range: $30,000.00 - $60,000.00/year
Ability to manage a day/night crew of detailers and shop supplies and reports.
B Level Technician
Pay Range: $59,800.00 - $72,800.00/year
Maintaining 125% productivity and a CSI above Zone/Region/Division. Yearly pay scale is based on being 100% productive. Productivity bonus plan available based on weekly hours turned and a minimum of 15 days worked in a month.
C Level Technician
Pay Range: $41,600.00 - $47,840.00/year
Maintaining 125% productivity and a CSI above Zone/Region/Division. Yearly pay scale is based on being 100% productive. Productivity bonus plan available based on weekly hours turned and a minimum of 15 days worked in a month.
Service Advisor
Pay Range: $36,000.00 - $84,000.00/year
Above range based off experience, ROs closed and some sales.
Lube Technician
Pay Range: $31,200.00 - $35,360.00/year
Ability to perform quality Quik Lube while maintaining 100% productivity.
A Level Technician
Pay Range: $72,800.00 - $100,000.00/year
Maintaining 125% productivity and a CSI above Zone/Region/Division. Yearly pay scale is based on being 100% productive. Productivity bonus plan available based on weekly hours turned and a minimum of 15 days worked in a month.
- Health Insurance Offered
- We offer competitively priced health insurance through Cigna that also includes plans that are eligible for HSA. The dealership pays a portion cost of the insurance, the employee is responsible for the remaining amount and any dependents.

- Yes, we offer employee paid Dental insurance through Delta Dental. The coverage is also available for dependents.

- Yes, we offer employee paid vision insurance through VSP. The coverage is also available for dependents.
- Retirement Plan Offered
- All regular full-time employees who have completed 60 days of employment at Durango Motor Company are eligible for the Dealership 401(k) plan. The Dealership offers both Roth 401K (post tax) and employee pre-tax deferral contributions. Employer matching funds (after one year of employment) of .5% per 1% contributed by the employee up to 6%.
- Sick Leave Offered
- Durango Motor Company allows its employees 6 paid sick days per calendar year. Employees will begin accruing paid sick leave at the time of hire at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours the employee works, up to 48 hours of paid sick leave per year.
- Vacation Offered
- Flexible PTO Under this policy, there is no accruing of time off. Rather, all regular full-time employees who have completed their 90-day probationary period are simply able to request paid time off as they need it. Part time and temporary workers are not eligible for PTO. There are no stringent guidelines on how and when employees take personal time off from work aside from employee performance and business needs. Employees are empowered to work with their managers and team members to create a more beneficial work life balance without being restricted by how many PTO hours are in the bank like more traditional accrual-based plans. As there is no accrual under this plan, there will be no cash out at the anniversary date or termination. Employees do not lose any PTO time by failing to take days off by a certain date. It is strongly encouraged that all employees take a minimum of 6 paid days off each year. Your contributions are valued, and this is a benefit that is intended to be used as you need it. Eligible employees must submit their request for PTO 30 days in advance to their direct supervisor. Requests exceeding 6 consecutive days will be subject to approval by the Departmental Manager and General Manager. Approval of requested time off will be subject to staffing needs and quality of work performance according to the KRA and KMA. All requests are to be made via the Netchex platform using the “Request Time Off” tool on your employee portal.

- Durango Motor Company offers the following paid holidays each year: • New Year's Day • Memorial Day • Independence Day • Labor Day • Thanksgiving Day • Christmas Day Guest requirements and expanded level of services may necessitate departments to remain open on any or all of the above days. If and when that is the case, the Department Managers will explain the compensation to hourly workers. Salaried or commissioned employees are on duty as business demands require. Currently Durango Motor Company is open on Memorial Day and Labor Day.

- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Durango Motor Company provides confidential assistance through its employee assistance program (EAP) to all eligible employees and their immediate family members/dependents. The EAP provides confidential access to professional counseling services for help with personal concerns that may impact job performance. These concerns may include, but are not limited to, health, marital, family, financial, legal, emotional, alcohol abuse, and drug use. The EAP can help assess the problem, offer guidance, and provide a referral to quality care. Voluntary participation in the EAP will not jeopardize your opportunities for promotion or employment. Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Durango Motor Company provides Flexible Spending Account (FSA) benefits for eligible full-time employees who have completed 90 days of employment. FSAs provide tax-free reimbursement to employees for health care and/or dependent care expenses that are not reimbursed by any other insurance or reimbursement program. A Health Care FSA provides eligible employees the opportunity to pay for medical expenses, on a pretax basis, that are not reimbursed by an insurance plan. Both the amount you contribute and the amount you are reimbursed from your Health Care FSA are income tax free.
