Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

All of the Shops in our Campus are heated and air conditioned.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

You’ll be joining a close-knit team that works collaboratively with our service support and parts staff. In this smaller team environment, you’ll have the opportunity to build strong working relationships, contribute directly to daily operations, and see the impact of your efforts firsthand.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30am through 6:00pm with the ability to work overtime when available. Closed Saturdays and Sundays.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have access to all special tools required to make repairs on Audi vehicles. We also have a small assortment of beginner tools (sockets, wrenches, impact tools, etc.) for new technicians to use as they build their own tool collection. We have Hunter tire machines, the newest A/C machines for all refrigerant types, and Audi fluid exchange equipment.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Our state-of-the-art facility is designed with both employees and customers in mind. For our technicians, we offer a spacious, modern lounge equipped with everything you need for a comfortable break. The lounge is fully equipped with modern amenities, providing a convenient and relaxing space to recharge during your workday.

How many bays does your shop have?

We currently have 6 bays, an alignment rack, and a mobile lift with one lift being added soon.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Our shop stays consistently busy, averaging around 450 repair orders per month. This steady workflow ensures there’s always plenty of work to keep you engaged, with unlimited earning potential for motivated technicians.

What is your parts ordering process?

Our advanced software streamlines the process for technicians by allowing them to seamlessly add part requests to their repair recommendations. These requests are instantly sent to the parts department for pricing. Once the customer approves the recommendation, the software automatically notifies the parts department to order the necessary parts, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is not allowed. Technicians are allowed to work on immediate family member's vehicles in the shop after hours with a repair order signed off by the manager.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Walser offers technicians a clear career path, from beginner level all the way to our highest Certified Diagnostic Technician level. Each step has clear training and certification goals required to move up to the next level.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Our company provides a transparent performance process designed to support growth and success. Goals are clearly defined and reviewed in a group setting three days per week, creating collaboration and accountability. Personal performance is closely monitored by the shop foreman and service manager, ensuring consistent feedback and guidance. In addition to these regular weekly and monthly reviews, we conduct a comprehensive annual performance review to assess individual achievements, set long-term goals, and align personal growth with career advancement opportunities. For any performance challenges, we prioritize addressing them individually, offering tailored support and solutions to help team members succeed.

What type of safety training is required?

At Walser, we prioritize workplace safety and compliance as a fundamental part of our culture. All new hires receive comprehensive safety training during their first day at orientation to ensure they are fully prepared to operate in a safe and compliant environment. Additionally, we maintain a strong focus on safety as an ongoing practice, integrating regular training and reinforcement during shop operations to promote a safe and productive workplace for all team members.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have younger techs shadow our shop foreman for up to 6 months in order to cement their understanding of our processes. After that period, the foreman works closely with the technicians to ensure a smooth transition and continued mentorship is ongoing during your time at Walser.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

The Walser Foundation is committed to supporting the next generation of risk-takers, innovators, and change-makers. Walser commits 5% of all pre-tax earnings to the Walser Foundation, which funds hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants and sponsorships annually for, education and career training in our local communities. We also host various community events, such as technician school tours, sponsorships of local schools, and annual events like Trunk-or-Treat and the Running of the Rings poker run, demonstrating our commitment to community engagement and supporting the next generation of innovators.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Walser has a significant partnership with WSU Tech. We invested significantly in the recent renovations in their training facility as part of our commitment to aspiring automotive professionals. This partnership marks a new chapter for WSU and their students, providing excellent learning opportunities while providing a pipeline for students into the automotive industry.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we do perform an initial 15-minute phone screen as part of the interview process.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

The hiring manager shares expectations and details about the role. The candidate and the hiring manager will review work and education experience. The interviewer will ask skill and ability questions. There will be an overview about the company, culture, and benefits. We make sure to cover the candidates career goals and aspirations. There will be time to ask any questions and discuss next steps.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Walser Automotive Group performs a background check for every candidate as part of the company's Pre-Employment Policy.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No we do not, but we do assess education, accreditations, and certifications (OEM and ASE).

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

After an interview is conducted the candidate should know an answer within one week.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

The entire process should take no more than two weeks.

Semi-Skilled Technician Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.60/hour

Based of Production Hours, you can reach $25.60.

Health Insurance Offered
Walser provides medical insurance coverage through Medica. We offer 3 different plan options for paying for care, along with 3 coverage networks for those who you visit for care. The 3 medical plan options are as follows: $1000 Co-Pay Plan, $2800 HDHP Plan, or $5950 HDHP Plan. Medica coverage also includes the Virtualcare benefit through Amwell at no additional cost.
Dental Insurance Offered
Walser provides dental insurance coverage through Delta Dental of MN. We offer 2 different plan options—a base plan and a buy up plan— to ensure that you get the dental care that is most convenient and cost-effective for you.
Vision Insurance Offered
Walser provides a vision discount plan through EyeMed. This plan offers discounts on lenses, frames, contacts and laser vision correction. Annual eye exams are covered as preventative under all of Walser’s group medical plans.
Retirement Plan Offered
Walser offers a retirement savings plan that is managed by Securian Financial. We offer a traditional 401(k) and a Roth 401(k). All new hire or re-hired employees will be automatically enrolled in the plan at 5% of your base salary as of the 1st of the month following one month of employment.
Sick Leave Offered
Each employee has PTO that they accrue throughout the year.

Each employee has PTO that they accrue throughout the year.

Holiday schedules vary by store.
ST / LT Disability Offered
Walser offers Voluntary Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability plans for employees. Disability benefits provide you with paycheck protection in the event you are unable to work due to a non-work related sickness or injury. The benefit amount for Short Term Disability is 60% of your pre-disability weekly earnings; up to the plan's maximum weekly benefit of $1,000. The benefit amount for Long Term Disability is 60% of your pre-disability monthly earnings; up to the plan's maximum monthly benefit of $5,000.
Life Insurance Offered
Walser provides all full-time, benefit eligible employees a company paid Basic Life and AD&D policy through MetLife. This is at no cost to the employee.
Uniforms Offered
Uniforms are provided, along with a safety shoe allowance and company provided devices.
Other Offered
Walser offers fertility and adoption assistance through Carrot Fertility, and Walser Wags Pet Insurance for all Walser employees. Walser additionally provides Optum Employee Assistance Program for use by all employees and their loved ones to access resources for mental health, financial advice, legal mediation and much more. Walser offers technicians $2,500 relocation assistance, a $2,000 sign-on bonus, and up to $30,000 tuition assistance and reimbursement.
