Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
The shop has large overhead fans and floor fans to circulate air throughout, but shop does not require heat nor is air conditioned.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
The Chevrolet Service Team currently has 51 associates that includes 8 service advisors, 3 express (lube) techs, 20 main line techs, 3 porters, and 6 administrative support associates.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Our Schumacher Chevrolet Service Department is open: Monday to Friday: 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Saturday: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm Sunday: Closed Note: The Service Department is closed on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
All manufacturer special tools and all tools owned by Schumacher Auto Group. The shop utilizes CDK Service and provides A/C coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Schumacher Chevrolet has 1 break room / lunch room on the 2nd floor of the shop.
How many bays does your shop have?
Our shop has 54 service bays.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
Our shop averages over 1400 repair orders each month.
What is your parts ordering process?
Our shop orders and receives parts daily when the parts are available. All back- ordered parts are managed by the parts department. Parts are ordered with an RO #.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work is strictly prohibited.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
The Schumacher Auto Group Family of Dealerships celebrates employees with the following activities: Annual Holiday Party, Employee Appreciation Day event, Leadership Award event, I Made a Difference Awards, Strive for Five Awards, and Service Drive Success events. In addition, Schumacher University is our on-site professional learning and development department with access to required training, as well as career mapping and other types of professional development training classes.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
In addition to ongoing manufacturer training, Schumacher Auto Group has an internal learning and development department, Schumacher University.

Schumacher Auto Group has clearly defined career path plans, believes in growing our own, and promoting from within.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Our performance review process consists of 1:1 coaching, mentoring, and goal setting with your manager. We also have team mentorship programs and conduct annual performance-based reviews.
What type of safety training is required?
Schumacher Auto Group utilizes the KPA platform for position specific safety training. We also provide lift training, wheel machine brake lathe training, as well as assorted tools trainings.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Our senior master technicians work with and mentor both our entry level technicians and our technician apprentices. The mentors take the technicians through all aspects from flat rate technician to main line technician.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
The Schumacher Auto Group Family of Dealerships has been serving the Palm Beaches for over 54 years through sponsorships that support initiatives that are important to our community and our employees. Some of the favorite engagement opportunities include: food drives, toy drives, beach clean-ups, walks/runs, and dog adoptions.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Schumacher Auto Group currently has partnerships with Keiser University, which offers an automotive management degree seeking program at a discounted tuition rate for our associates. We also partner with Palm Beach State College and speak to their graduating technicians about joining the Schumacher team.
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?
We are looking forward to expanding our school partnerships in South Florida.

Yes, we phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Interview Process Overview - Candidates are greeted by a receptionist or HR representative. - An overview of the company, the role, and expectations is provided. - Basic qualifications and resume details are reviewed. Interviews may be conducted by an HR team member, hiring manager(s), and, in some cases, department heads or executives. Questions typically cover: - Job-specific skills and experience - Behavioral and situational responses - Cultural fit and work style - Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities A role-play scenario or hands-on task may be included to assess practical skills. Candidates may be given a tour of the workspace, introduced to team members, or walked through a typical workday. Time is provided for candidates to ask questions about the role, team, training, and next steps. Interviewers explain the next steps, such as additional interview rounds or the decision timeline. If moving forward, HR will discuss benefits, scheduling, and reference checks.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes, this is given after decision to hire has been made. Background checks are done online, and drug screenings can be easily scheduled close by to the candidate's residence.

Role-play scenario, or sometimes hands-on task to demonstrate ability.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
You will be notified with a job offer or rejection letter within two (2) weeks of your in-person interview.

The full hiring process takes approximately two (2) weeks.

Express (Lube) Technician - Non-Certified Technician
Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00/hour
$18.00 per hour - Associate must possess mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn the necessary skills to become a qualified technician. $25.00 per hour - Requires one (1) year or more as an automotive technician or performs only work as a dedicated non-certified used vehicle technician.
Certified Technician - Advanced Technician
Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00/hour
$30.00 per hour - Certified Technician: Successful completion of all manufacturer required training and coursework to be at least classified as a GM Certified Technician (including one to three GM certifications) and any additional company training. Requires two (2) years or more as an automotive technician. $35.00 per hour - Advanced Certified Technician: Successful completion of all manufacturer required training and coursework to be at least classified as a GM Certified Technician (including four to six GM certifications) and any additional company training. Requires three (3) years or more as a manufacturer certified dealership technician. Longevity Pay (Years of Service) - Per Flat Rate Hour At least 1 year but less than 2 years + $0.25 At least 2 years but less than 5 years + $0.50 At least 5 years but less than 10 years + $0.75 At least 10 years but less than 15 years + $1.00 15 years or more + $1.50
Senior Technician - Master Technician
Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00/hour
$40.00 per hour - Senior Technician: Successful completion of all manufacturer required training and coursework to be at least classified as a GM Certified Technician (including seven or more GM certifications) and any additional company training. Requires five (5) years or more a manufacturer certified dealership technician. $45.00 per hour - Master Technician: Successful completion of all manufacturer required training and coursework to be at least classified as a GM Master Technician (Does not require GM Body and Paint certifications) and any additional company training. Requires seven (7) years or more as a manufacturer certified dealership technician. Longevity Pay (Years of Service) - Per Flat Rate Hour At least 1 year but less than 2 years + $0.25 At least 2 years but less than 5 years + $0.50 At least 5 years but less than 10 years + $0.75 At least 10 years but less than 15 years + $1.00 15 years or more + $1.50
Service Advisor
Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00/year
Service Advisors generally make $60,000 plus annually on a commissioned based pay plan.
Service (Porter) Concierge
Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00/year
Service (Porter) Concierge pay plans are an hourly wage.

- Schumacher Auto Group provides medical insurance coverage for all full-time employees and their dependents in accordance with the terms of the plans. Full-Time employees are eligible for medical insurance coverage upon completion of 60 days of employment. Once eligible, employees have up to thirty (30) days to make medical plan elections. Once made, elections are generally fixed for the remainder of the plan year. Our current Health Insurance provider is UMR/UHC (www.umr.com)
- Dental Insurance Offered
- Schumacher Auto Group provides dental insurance coverage for all eligible full-time employees and their dependents, in accordance with the terms of the plan’s summary plan design. Full-time employees are eligible for dental insurance coverage upon completion of 60 days of employment. Our current Dental Insurance provider is MetLife (www.metlife.com)

- Retirement Plan Offered
- Schumacher Auto Group offers a voluntary pre-tax salary reduction plan in which full-time employees who are 18 years of age or older may elect to participate beginning with the first payroll period following the completion of the employee's 60-day introductory period. Employees will automatically be enrolled into the 401K at 5%. The Company will contribute 1% after completion of one year of service. The auto enrollment will increase 1% per year up to 10% The employee may opt out of the 401K at any time. Our current provider is Empower (empower.com)
- Sick Leave Offered
- PTO is earned based on length of service and will be paid on the base salary rate at the time the PTO is taken. (PTO is sick leave and vacation leave combined) After 90 days, associate will have earned 3 days of PTO At One (1) year, associate will have earned 8 days of PTO & 3 unpaid personal days At Two (2) years, associate will have earned 13 days of PTO & 3 unpaid personal days

- ST / LT Disability Offered
- Schumacher Auto Group offers full-time employees a non-contributory Long-Term Disability (LTD) base plan. This non-contributory base plan provides for monthly LTD benefits of 50% of basic monthly earnings to a maximum benefit of $1,000 per month, less any other offsets. The Company's Short-Term Disability plan is a benefit that provides partial pay (one-half of weekly wages up to a maximum benefit as determined by state law) for full-time employees who are unable to work due to non-work-related illness, injury, or disability, after an absence of more than seven (8) consecutive calendar days. - Life Insurance Offered
- The Company offers full-time employees who have been employed by Schumacher Auto Group for more than 60 days an employee-paid basic group term life policy along with an accidental death and dismemberment policy. Each policy generally pays a death benefit equal to the lesser of their "Life Salary" (as defined in the Plan document). Our current provider is Equitable (www.equitable.com)
