Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop has overhead swamp coolers, roll around coolers and exhaust fans for cooling. No heating options installed.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

1 general service tech. 2 technicians. 1 service manager/technician. 1 service writer. 1 owner. 1 accounting/hr/owner

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Shop hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. Technician shifts are 8:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. with 45 min. lunch and 1 optional 15 min. break.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Most specialty tools and equipment are supplied by shop. Including scan tools, computer, tablets, pullers, presses, lathes, model specific tools etc. Hand tools, air tools, etc. are employee supplied. We work well as a team and this includes our tools. Our techs' don't mind sharing, as long as tools are respected. And of course they will respect yours.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a clean, climate controlled break room available with a table, chairs, microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator, sink, counter and some various dishes.

How many bays does your shop have?

Shop is an 8 bay shop with 6 total lifts (4- two posts and 2 drive-ons). Each bay is deep enough for 2 cars.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average between 140 and 180 R.O.'s per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

All parts are ordered by our service writer, service manager or owner. Parts ordering is mostly performed online. Technicians do not need to worry about researching and ordering parts.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is not permitted on property. There will be zero tolerance for offering and/or performing side work to customers'. Working on family vehicles is acceptable off premises.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Friendly, family type team attitude. Lunches provided periodically.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, we offer structured classes as they become available to us. We also promote and reimburse for training and certifications.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We always enjoy bringing people up from within the company. We would love to see a general service technician grow into an A tech.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We do perform periodic performance reviews. Things discussed include recent performance and future goals.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety training is performed in house.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our shop is a close knit team. All of our techs' are more than happy, and enjoy mentoring and training younger staff.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We do annual toy drives for children. We advertise and promote local schools and sport teams.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Not at this time

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes we do. Very light screen to discuss their resume and and past work history.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Typically we will have a casual sit down interview with the prospective new hire, the owner and the service manager/shop foreman.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes we may. Background checks and drug screenings are performed randomly.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No we do not. This information will be acquired at the time of the interview.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

We will reach out within one week of the interview with our decision.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Less than one week from time of interview.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00/year

Our compensation plan is a hybrid, consisting of an hourly base pay based on a 45 hour work week, with the incentive for higher earnings based on production hours. This offers a comfortable base pay for our techs' without the pressure to produce hours, but enables the techs' the ability to increase their pay with higher labor hours produced.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00/year

Our compensation plan is a hybrid, consisting of an hourly base pay based on a 45 hour work week, with the incentive for higher earnings based on production hours. This offers a comfortable base pay for our techs' without the pressure to produce hours, but enables the techs' the ability to increase their pay with higher labor hours produced.

C Level Technician Pay Range: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00/year ($14.42 - $19.23/hr)

Our compensation plan is a hybrid, consisting of an hourly base pay based on a 45 hour work week, with the incentive for higher earnings based on production hours. This offers a comfortable base pay for our techs' without the pressure to produce hours, but enables the techs' the ability to increase their pay with higher labor hours produced.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $28,000.00 - $31,000.00/year ($13.46 - $14.90/hr)

Lube techs' will be strictly hourly, with lots of room for learning and growth. We would love to have somebody with the desire to excel into a C tech or higher.
