What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

10-15 people

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

7am - 5pm are the typical shop hours. Subject to change based on the business needs.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a breakroom with a full sized refrigerator, coffee pot, water cooler and table and chairs.

How many bays does your shop have?

3, 2 deep bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

In our business we constantly have repair/service work. If we ever reached a point where we didn't, we have plenty of additional projects to keep us busy.

What is your parts ordering process?

We prefer all part orders to go through the Shop Manager. If they are unavailable, the technicians can order them.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We do have annual training classes at our local John Deere Dealership.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

You will gain experience and knowledge on a daily basis, and have the opportunity to increase your skills.

Face to face evaluation

What type of safety training is required?

Weekly and annual safety training. Additional specialized training on an as needed basis.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We like to have our more experience Techs work with our newer Techs to help them learn about our different pieces of equipment, and our processes for servicing them, and taking care of our other departments.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our company has been a driving force in assisting the local community college and high schools in getting a Heavy Equipment Operator and Diesel Technology classes up and going. We've assisted when emergencies/natural disasters (wild fires, tornados, floods) have occurred. We also sponsor an annual Gift Drive at Christmas, benefitting those in need.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We attend Job Fairs when available, and offer to speak with students about our profession and the benefits of working in a trade.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

If the company continues to grow the way we have been, I can easily see the need for our shop to be twice the size it currently is. Both in physical location, and number of Technicians employed.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We strongly encourage all employees to continue to better themselves professionally and personally. If someone has a special interest that they'd like support from the company on, we are more than happy to discuss the possibility of this.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, 15 min or less.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

If an applicant is not from this area, we will do a brief phone interview to determine if it makes sense for both sides to continue.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We like to get to know the applicants some, talk about experience and job history, question/answer time.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

A pre-employment drug screening is required. If you are a CDL Driver you must past the Clearinghouse. And we are looking into a pre-employment physical test.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Couple of days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

24-72 hours depending on applicant availability and how prepared they are with needed information.

We do check with references as well.

Heavy Equipment - Field Service Technician Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $150,000.00/year

We pay hourly, overtime is 1.5 times rate when you hit 40 hours for the week. Our pay period is weekly. We offer and strongly encourage Direct Deposit. New employees are eligible for a performance/pay review after 90 days.

Heavy Diesel Truck Technician Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00/year

We pay hourly, overtime is 1.5 times rate when you hit 40 hours for the week. Our pay period is weekly. We offer and strongly encourage Direct Deposit. New employees are eligible for a performance/pay review after 90 days.

Available after 60 days of employment. We offer a Co-Pay plan with a $5,000 deductible or a High Deductible plan ($5,000) with a Health Savings Account.

We currently offer a $10,000 tuition reimbursement program for those who have recently/successfully completed an accredited 2 year program.
