Around 100.
What is your parts ordering process?
Parts ordering is completed via our shop system, entered in by the technician and then the service writer is notified within the system. For parts that are not common, which on fire engines, most are not, the technician discusses with the parts and service team, and ordering is then handled by them.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work is allowed after hours with approval from upper management and is to not interfere with shop jobs. You may use the shop tools and equipment but you will have to provide your own parts and supplies.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We work on some of the most specialized vehicles on the road, which means there is always new things to see and learn. We will run a background check along with a pre-employment drug screen as we work on life safety apparatus. Once hired, you will be subject to random drug screens. Of course, if you hold a commercial license you will be held to the DOT screening standards.
