The shop is heated.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
There are 12 techs and an office staff of 4
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
There are a 1st shift and a second shift Monday through Thursday. Everyone works 1st shift on Friday. Saturday there is a morning shift.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
The shop can provide tools until the tech can buy and supply their own.
What type of break room facility is provided?
The break room has a microwave, fridge, and area for the techs to eat lunch. There is also a pop machine and candy for purchase.
How many bays does your shop have?
The shop has 6 main bays. There is also a paint bay and a wash bay.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
The shop combined averages around 150 per month but it varies depending on weather, service calls, and the type of work the is needed.
What is your parts ordering process?
Stock orders are ordered every morning and put in locations once they arrive. The techs pull from stock and issue out parts themselves. Special order parts are given to either the service writer or whomever needs to order the parts.
What is your policy on side work?
The policy is that you can work on your own or immediate family member's vehicles after work hours.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
The shop is a family orientated business. Once in a while lunches will be provided.

Guys Truck & Tractor would like to give a shout out to our service advisors for all they do. Without their hard work and dedication we would not be as successful as we are today.

What are a couple of things you'd like to highlight that happened last month?
In February, Guys Truck & Tractor Service was dispatched for an accident recovery for a tractor/trailer on it’s side that was hauling frozen product. The technicians from Guys were able to organize a recovery plan to off-load the product on scene, along with the help of community members, in an effort to save the loaded trailer of frozen product. The technicians worked well together with their excellent communication and technical skills to save the product as well as in site cleanup. We are very proud of our great group of technicians in their skills and teamwork when in the shop and out on the road assisting others.

Top Shop Challenge: In honor of Valentine's day, please share what you love most about the industry and working at your shop. The more specific, the better!
At Guy’s, the technicians like that the shop is very clean and organized, everything has a place making it a great environment to work in. When it comes to the industry, the technicians like that there is new technology evolving each and every day and ways to diagnose issues are more precise and efficient. The technicians also appreciate that every day the responsibilities are varying, depending on our customer needs each day.

Top Shop Challenge: Can you share any examples of technician perks or policies you have added? We're not looking for the traditional ones like health insurance or 401k. Instead we want to hear about changes you've made based on technician feedback.
Here at Guy’s Truck and Tractor Service, the technicians are provided many benefits. Guy’s offers their technicians flexibility for shift times and will accommodate personal time off for appointments. Our technicians have complimentary use of shop equipment including tow truck use for personal vehicles, fabrication equipment, auto scan tools as well as software for diagnosing personal vehicle issues. Lastly, they have use of our car wash bay, employee discount on parts for personal carry out, and winter clothing discounted at 50% off.

Top Shop Challenge: What are a few things you are looking to improve on your team in 2023
We are looking to cross train our technicians in multiple areas of jobs we perform to provide better efficiency for our customers. Well-rounded technicians improve our shop flow and help complete the work in a timely manner. We are also looking to have the veteran technicians mentor our newer technicians to pass along their skills and knowledge they have learned over the years. This will allow us to continue to grow as a company.
