Heated - no air conditioning - but is a concrete building that stays cool almost all the time.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Small - 3-4 other employees

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Shop hours are M-F 8-5

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

There are specialty tools available for use to technicians - some include a brake lathe, tubing bender, pullers, multiple specified tools for make of vehicles with certain applications.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Refrigerator, eating area, microwave

How many bays does your shop have?

8

How many repair orders do you average per month?

120-150

What is your parts ordering process?

We have 2-3 designated people to do parts ordering - depending on how in depth the parts are to order.

What is your policy on side work?

Would prefer no side work

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We try and accommodate individual requests with the work environment - we allow employees to only pay 10% over cost on parts for them personally.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer to pay for ASE testing as long as it is a passing grade. We offer classes on everything from electrical to mechanical through vendor programs.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Through pay, there is an incentive with billed hours to increase pay with experience.

Can you describe your performance review process?

I use a standard shop performance review template that shows increased or decreased profitability and productivity.

What type of safety training is required?

Standard insurance and OSHA safety training is provided.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We work hand and hand with the local school and mentor young students as well as any technicians we hire. We do job shadowing with several students.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We are part of the local Chamber of Commerce, the public school, we are avid supporters of the local theatre, rodeo foundation and rotary.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are working with two local colleges and the local school to teach and inform students of the automotive and diesel industry.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

No we do not - I just like to have application or resume at hand prior to doing in-person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Myself, the owner and Konner the Service Manager and John, the other owner, we get together and discuss previous experience, college experience, ASE qualifications and personal preferences for hours and benefits that we offer.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We do do background checks and drug screening, but no personality tests.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No skill assessment, we just go by previous college and or previous experience.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Within 48 hours.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Within a week.

Automotive/Diesel Technician Pay Range: $40.00 - $52.00/hour

This is a percentage based income figured off of hourly labor rate. We pay bi-weekly.

We have a broker that we go through and offer health insurance. We pay up to 25% of premiums.

We have Aflac - we pay up to $100 in Aflac plans per employee. We also have Dental insurance offered through our agent as well.

We have Aflac - we pay up to $100 in Aflac plans per employee. We also have Vision insurance offered through our agent as well.

We have a Simple IRA plan offered through our local Edward Jones. We match up to 3%.

We offer a week paid vacation after the first year up to three years and then we offer 2 weeks paid vacation up to 6 years.
