Under The Hood
Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Our assembly and warehouse are heated, and though there is no air conditioning, the walls are thick and we keep the dock doors open or closed and it stays comfortable.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
Our Assembly team has between 10-12 members in Wisconsin. Our Product Support Team has about the same size team, with just a couple in the Technical Service Specialist role.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Our assembly team works 6am to 2:30pm, overtime until 3:30pm occasionally. Our Product Support team works between the hours of 7:00am-4:30pm.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Specialty and power tools provided.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have two breakrooms with seating, tables, refrigerators, sinks, microwaves, paper plates and utensils.
How many bays does your shop have?
As we are a manufacturer/distributor, we have areas versus bays, which allow enough room for everyone to work comfortably.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
In our Technical Service Specialist role; this number varies.
What is your parts ordering process?
We maintain many parts in-house.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work should not interfere with the quality of work for Engine Power, or attendance, and should be discussed with your manager.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We have a very organized, clean work space for Assembly and Product Support.

Can you describe your performance review process?
Our performance review process is designed to provide constructive feedback, recognize achievements, and identify opportunities for growth. It's a key tool for fostering employee development and ensuring alignment with company goals. We have a 90-day review and employee check-in, and a Performance Review conducted annually.
What type of safety training is required?
Safety is a top priority at Engine Power, and we incorporate the training you need to be safe and successful into our onboarding and annual training program.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Engine Power trains within and gives ample support to new employees.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Engine Power contributes to and participants in the ProHealth Care Walk for Cancer, as well as other charitable giving.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Engine Power has donated engines to local schools to support students learning about diesel engines.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes, we phone screen applicants prior to in-person interviews.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
We love to invite people to our location to meet the hiring manager in-person as well as to tour our facility. Come see where you belong!

Engine Power does a 4-panel drug screen as well as asks people to take the Culture Index survey (a tool that helps businesses understand their workplace culture by measuring employee attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.)

No.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
We like to move the process along as fast as possible.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Ultimately, we want it to be the right fit for us for you and want to be sure we move quickly, yet with enough time for questions and answers.

The above is starting pay, which is assessed at 90 days at year end.
