Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Our shops provide both heat and air conditioning.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
The Don Aadsen service team is 19 members strong and growing! This includes everyone from detail, to techs, to our service advising team.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Our shops are open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Used car techs and detailers work alternating Saturdays from 9:00-5:00.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
The shop provides special tools, lifting equipment, specialty machines and safety equipment. We also have a new technician tool program available.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have a break room available in fixed ops as well as another break room in the service department.
How many bays does your shop have?
We have 13 bays at our Ford store and 12 at our Chevrolet/CDJR store.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We average 400 repair orders per month. We are looking for qualified techs to increase that number.
What is your parts ordering process?
We use an electronic requisition and order daily through our onsite parts department.
What is your policy on side work?
Techs may work on personal vehicles in the shop on Saturdays if another tech is there as well.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
Don Aadsen is a family run business of over 50 years. We believe our first customer is our employees. We believe supporting the success of our employees ensures we continue the business for another 50 years and beyond!
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We offer manufacturer specific training.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Don Aadsen encourages technicians to continue their education through master level certification. Additionally, we discuss career paths with technicians, both new and seasoned throughout their tenure.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Technicians meet with the Service manager on a weekly and monthly basis to discuss performance metrics and training needs.
What type of safety training is required?
Manufacturing specific training as well as any required Federal, State and local safety trainings are offered.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
We have an established student/mentorship program through local various schools.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
The dealership is involved with various philanthropic community events and youth programs such as but not limited to: Boys and Girls Club, Sponsor your Student, Drive One for Your School.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We sponsor with the local high schools to offer the Sponsor your student program and offer opportunities for students to observe and shadow our shop technicians to get a realistic idea of the technician career.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
HR conducts an initial phone screen for all potential candidates prior to in-person interviews.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
In-person interviews include the service manager and at least one other member of the service department. This could include another tech or service advisor, or it could include the dealer.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
We perform background checks and DMV checks to ensure insurability. We have a random drug screening policy, but do not require pre-employment drug screens for hire.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
Applicants complete a behavioral questionnaire on our hiring platform.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Interviewees will receive an offer or rejection no later than 2 business days following the interview.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
It can take as little as a couple of days!

We are an employee driven company and want to ensure we are a good fit for you as much as you are for us. We encourage applicants to ask as many questions as they'd like.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $48.00/hour
Flat rate based on productivity hours. Productivity bonuses available.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $30.00/hour
Flat rate based on productivity hours. Productivity bonuses available.
Veteran's Technician Program
Pay Range: $20.00 - $30.00/hour
Flat rate based on productivity hours. Productivity bonuses available.
Automotive Detailer
Pay Range: $15.00 - $17.50/hour

Pay Range: $15.00 - $19.00/hour

- Health Insurance Offered
- We offer 3 options for health care coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield; one traditional health plan and 2 HDHP health plans. This ensures our employees are able to select the best option for them. Don Aadsen contributes 75% of the employee's cost for the traditional plan. However, this amount can be applied to any of the plans offered. Full-time employees are eligible for coverage the first of the month following 30 days of hire. All enrolled employees are eligible for a basic health screening for themselves , their spouse and covered dependents age 18 or older. Both HDHP plans are eligible for an HSA account. Don Aadsen contributes $38/month towards employees' HSA account for those enrolled in the $4,500 HDHP plan.

- Dental coverage is offered as an employee covered benefit through Delta Dental.

- Vision coverage is offered as an employee covered benefit through Best Life Insurance.
- Retirement Plan Offered
- Don Aadsen offers a 401(k) plan. The plan is available to employees upon completion of 1 year of service (and 1000 hours). The company matches up to 3% of employees contributions. The plan is set on a 6-year vesting schedule.

- Full-time employees earn a vacation at the completion of each anniversary year. The amount of vacation is based on accumulated service as indicated in the following schedule: - 1-3 years of continuous service : 1 week - After 4 years of continuous service: 2 weeks - After 10 years of continuous service: 3 weeks
- Paid Holidays Offered
- Paid Holidays are set aside each year for full-time employees. The actual dates will be determined yearly and posted. The holiday schedule may include the following days: -New Year's Day -Memorial Day -Independence Day -Labor Day -Thanksgiving Day -Christmas Day
- ST / LT Disability Offered
- Don Aadsen partners with American Fidelity to offer suppplemental insurance products such as short term/long term disability, accident and cancer plans.
- Life Insurance Offered
- A $10,000 Unum Life Insurance Policy is included for every employee that elects health insurance.
- Uniforms Offered
- Don Aadsen covers 50% of the cost of employees' uniforms. The employee cost is deducted as a pre-tax benefit.
- Other Offered
- Employees may purchase new or used vehicles for their own personal use at a nominal amount above the company's cost. Each individual employee purchase amount will be determined at the discretion of the General Manager. Employees are entitled to 25% off parts and labor. All labor charges will be at standard rate and parts will be at list.

It takes a village or better yet a family. Our shop battled with sickness this last month. Thankfully, our team (including owners) was able to rally and ensure customers weren't left in the cold waiting for their repairs.
