What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently have about 10 full time service techs, along with other service support staff, parts department, sales department and office staff we have a total of about 25 full-time staff.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Most of the year shop hours are 7:30 am - 5:30 pm during the week and 7:30 to noon on Saturdays. During peak times (including harvest) the shop hours are extended.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Specialty tools and lifting tools are provided by the shop. Technicians are given a tool allowance each year for building their own tool inventory.

What type of break room facility is provided?

The break room has several booths, tables, and chairs. There is a microwave and refrigerator. There is a pop machine and candy/chip vending machine on site. When the weather is nice the techs often sit outside under an awning for break time.

How many bays does your shop have?

The shop currently has 25 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Dinkel's averages around 250 repair orders per month

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are ordered daily

What is your policy on side work?

Generally, side work is not allowed - special circumstances may be discussed with the owners.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

The equipment lines we carry offer a variety of training classes (mostly online, some in-person). Technicians will work with management to ensure they are completing classes to advance their skills.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Technicians are expected to progress in their skills by completing manufacturer/equipment line specific classes that are offered both online and offsite. They will work with management to outline the best path for this.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Since ownership and management is on-site there is ongoing opportunity for performance feedback.

What type of safety training is required?

Employee safety is critical - employees are trained to use the equipment provided that will allow them to work safely and safety meetings are conducted once a quarter to review processes.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Less experienced techs are given work bays close to more experienced techs so that they can ask questions and seek assistance when needed. Less experienced techs may also be assigned to work directly with more experienced ones on some tasks.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Dinkel's helps support numerous community events in Norfolk and the surrounding area with sponsorships and donations.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Dinkel Implement works with local high schools, FFA groups and the local community college to showcase career opportunities available in the profession.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We do phone screen applicants before interviews.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In-person interviews consist of meetings with the owners and other employees involved in the department. Most interviews are done on-site at Dinkel's but may be able to be done off-site if the need presents itself.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Once a candidate is offered a position they should be prepared for a pre-employment physical/drug screening at a nearby facility.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

This is highly dependent on the situation.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Since Dinkel Implement is a small business we have the ability to make hiring decisions very quickly!

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

For a strong candidate, the process can take a week or less, depending on the availability of all parties involved.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $32.00 - $38.00/hour

Technicians also qualify for a quarterly bonus based on efficiency, company profit sharing, and potential other bonuses throughout the year.

C Level Technician Pay Range: $27.00 - $32.00/hour

Technicians also qualify for a quarterly bonus based on efficiency, company profit sharing, and potential other bonuses throughout the year.

Service Manager Pay Range: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00/year

The service manager position qualifies for the company profit sharing and potential other bonuses throughout the year.

Student Tech / Apprentice Pay Range: $22.00 - $27.00/hour

A Level Technician Pay Range: $38.00 - $45.00/hour

Technicians also qualify for a quarterly bonus based on efficiency, company profit sharing, and potential other bonuses throughout the year.

Health Insurance Offered
Dinkel's currently offers health insurance with Health Savings Account (HSA) for employees and their spouses/children. Dinkel Implement pays a significant portion of the health insurance premium and also contributes to the HSA plan on behalf of the employee. For the 2024 year this total amount meant the employee was effectively only paying 1% of the premium. Employees may also make contributions to their HSA account via payroll deductions. For employees who are covered under a spouse or parents insurance Dinkel Implement provides a monthly stipend in lieu of insurance.

Retirement Plan Offered
For employees who have completed 1,000 hours of employment within one year and are at least 21 years old we offer a 401K plan. Dinkel Implement matches at 50% of employee contribution up to 3%. Example: employee contributes 5%, Dinkel's contributes 2.5%

Vacation Offered
Dinkel Implement does offer paid vacation according to a schedule based on years of service. Employees are allowed to carry over vacation. Employees also receive an additional two floating vacation days each year that may not be carried over.
Paid Holidays Offered
Dinkel Implement has the following paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Friday after, and Christmas Day. Employees are also given two additional "holidays" that are to be used between Thanksgiving and New Year's that will allow them to celebrate those times with their families.

We do have disability and other supplemental insurances available at employee expense (payroll deduction)
Life Insurance Offered
Dinkel Implement pays the premium on a $50K life insurance policy for the employees.
