Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Yes, the shop is air conditioned and heated. A must for Texas shops!
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
We currently have 2 service drives with a total of 16 service advisors between Cadillac and Buick GMC. 30 Technicians 18 quick lube technicians, 4 shop foremans, 2 warranty admins, and 2 service managers.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Our hours of operation are from 7am-6pm M-F 8am-3pm on Saturdays. Shifts are for mainline techs 7:00-4:00 or 8-5 M-F Work every 3rd Saturday from 8-3.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
All specialty tools are kept in tool room and available to check out when needed.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Break rooms all equipped with refrigerators, ice machine, microwave and are air conditioned and heated.
How many bays does your shop have?
50
How many repair orders do you average per month?
4500-5000
What is your parts ordering process?
Parts are electronically ordered through advanced service portals within Reynolds & Reynolds. Stocked parts and special ordered parts are brought to the technicians bay.
What is your policy on side work?
Case by case. Management approval is necessary.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We operate without central dispatching. We have broken our shop into teams. All techs flag what they do, this is not a split pay team system. The team leaders semi dispatch pending priorities, otherwise self dispatch by pulling the next job electronically. We strive for unity and a happy environment for all of our techs. This is job 1 for management and team leads.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Yes. We not only offer, but require training and continuous updates of what is new and necessary to succeed as a technician.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Can you describe your performance review process?
Periodic performance reviews occur 1 to 2 times per calendar year. Management will schedule these reviews with each individual and go over areas of opportunity as well as areas that you excel in. Pay plans are also discussed to determine if a change is needed.
What type of safety training is required?
Online training for safety is done annually by all employees. Individual training is as needed.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Our team leaders as well as our A techs will have apprentices working with them. These technicians get paid for what the apprentices flag. The exchange is the apprentice is taught how to diagnose, repair, and proper documentation in repair orders. We periodically test the apprentices and when we feel they are ready to go on their own, the mentor is paid a stipend for getting him/her ready for the line and also receive a portion of the apprentices flag when he's on his own so that they can continue to help them succeed.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We are closely knit with UTI and Austin community college.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We work closely with UTI here in Austin, and draw most of our apprentices from UTI. We are a proud sponsor of the UTI programs.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
If you are not in the area, yes we would love to phone screen applicants prior to in-person interviews.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Presenting your application or resume if not already done. We would have you talk to our shop and service managers and provide a tour of the operations. Q&A from us to you and you to us. This is the main way to know if we are a good fit for you and you are a good fit for us. You will be interviewing us as well!
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
We do have a 3rd party that does background checks and schedules pre employment drug testing prior to hire.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No we do not, may ask some skill questions but there is no assessment.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
If we both agree to move forward, generally it takes 24-48 hrs for background and drug test results. Once we receive the information from Cole, we would contact you right away for a start date or why we can't hire you.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
24-48 hrs depending on how soon the information from the Cole group is received. We can, if the person is right for the job, place a contingent offer of employment during the in-person interview.
Automotive Technician
Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $250,000.00/year
Since the level of technicians vary, and being a commission based position, compensation is determined by experience, certifications, and production. We have a very aggressive pay structure to accommodate the experience, certifications/training, and what can you produce. All aspects of this structure is made or broken by the individual. It's all up to you! Sky is the limit.

- You earn 1 weeks average for the past year and is paid out on your anniversary date. You can take vacation time anytime you wish to schedule it, but the pay is auto paid on your anniversary. On your 2nd year and subsequent years you will receive 2 weeks of your average pay for the previous 52 weeks which also auto pays on your anniversary date.
