Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Yes, the shop brand new and state of the art in Fall 2016 is fully heated and airconditioned. NO WASTE OIL BURNER HERE!!

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The VW and Audi Shop is connected therefore you have interaction with the joint team on a day to day basis. There is a team of 10 technicians between Audi and VW. Three advisors, support staff, a Service Manager/Dispatcher, Fixed Operations Director, and a very hands on General Manager.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Friday 8 AM-5 PM. Generally, a few technicians are the "Early Birds" and arrive between 7 and 7:30 AM and a few "Night Owls" that stay past 5 PM until 6 or 7:00 PM. We work with your style and your schedule.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Specialty required and recommended Audi tools. Scan tools, A/C machines, state of the Art Revolution Tire Machine. Hunter alignment rack.

What type of break room facility is provided?

There are two break rooms with locker rooms. One for VW, one for Audi. The break rooms include coffee pots, water fill stations, microwaves, and toasters.

How many bays does your shop have?

There are 20 bays within the shop between VW and Audi with a dedicated EV area with post lifts.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Audi specifically averages 550 ROs per month, including internal.

What is your parts ordering process?

We utilize Reynolds and Reynolds Advanced Service which all parts are requested through that system.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is permitted for employee owned vehicles after hours with approval and an open repair order. The vehicle must be owned by the employee or same household member. Only employees are allowed within the shop even after hours/ when performing side work.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Monday-Friday / No Weekends. Shop Foreman has over 40 years of tenure with the company and acts as mentor. Those that come in and work hard are rewarded. There is no micromanaging.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes... Audi Fast Track, Audi AEP, EV HVT/HVE.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Technicians have great opportunity for compensation with increased knowledge and skill level. While typically not common for technicians to change from turning wrench to alternative positions, we have had techs that have become advisors. As a company, we have numerous Department Managers that started with us a lower positions and have grown into their current position. We prefer to hire or promote from within.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We embrace an open door policy daily. We meet with technicians generally bi-annually to discuss performance and check-in. If there are performance issues, we correct them with performance improvement plans and provide guidance/ support to assist with areas of opportunity.

What type of safety training is required?

AED training every other year. Review of first aid, eye wash station, EV safety, etc.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our Shop Foreman with 40 years of tenure, Roland is nicknamed "Pops" for a reason. Roland is a great mentor and works closely with all ages. Our average tech age is mid-30s to early 40s, but we also have some young techs and everyone works very well together.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our dealership sponsors the Springfield Thunderbirds, MGM vehicle giveaways, has Toy Drive/ Food Drive donation drops, and participates with local ride and drives.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Yes, we work closely with Lincoln Tech in East Windsor, CT.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

Many of our 80+ employees have been with us greater than 15 years and many of them over 20...actually we even have a couple that are over 40, so we like to say that people certainly find their home and enjoy their career here.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We generally speak with applicants via the phone, text, or email prior to scheduling an in-person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We like you to meet with the management team that you will work closely with. Bev, our Service Manager; Stacey, our Fixed Ops Director; and Ethan, our GM all attend interviews to ensure the best fit possible. We ask about skill set, experience, goals, and take the time to really get to know the applicant.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We perform background checks, drug tests, and driving record checks before hiring an applicant.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Not a written skill assessment, but we often times have you meet with our Shop Foreman for him to gather knowledge from the applicant regarding skills and expertise.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Generally you will hear within 48 hours of an interview.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

No more than seven days.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

Our General Manager completes the hiring documentation, checks, and completes the onboarding process/ setups with you to fully get to know you from day one.

Audi Technician Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00/year

Flat rate hourly amount that varies with experience (i.e., $35) and then aggressive step bonus program. 45-49.99 Hours - $4 Retro 50-54.99 Hours - $6 Retro 55-59.99 Hours - $8 Retro 60-69.99 Hours - $10 Retro 70+ Hours - $12 Retro
