Under The Hood
Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
We work in a state-of-the-art facility, new building opened August 2019, fully climate controlled with 2 large forced air heating and air conditioning along with radiant heaters above all stalls, providing a safe and comfortable work environment every day of the year. Radiant heaters are all controlled directly by the technicians in those stalls while the main overhead units are controlled by the shop foreman and service manager.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
We currently have 11 full-line Audi technicians and 1 used car reconditioning technician, all Audi-trained and certified.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
The service department is open Monday-Friday from 7am to 5:30pm, Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. Technicians typically work Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm with an hour lunch break during the day and every 12th Saturday.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
We provide a large workstation and roll cart with 24 power outlets and plenty of storage for your personal tools along with well-organized and digitally catalogued Audi special tools along with the latest and greatest Hunter alignment and tire changing/balancing equipment.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Large breakroom with multiple refrigerators for employee use along with a Company Kitchen display for any snack or drink needs throughout the day.
How many bays does your shop have?

How many repair orders do you average per month?
850-900 a month, 350-400 customer-pay
What is your parts ordering process?
Parts are requested and priced electronically through MPI, most parts arrive next day if ordered before 12:30. Known parts for repair orders (filters, recall parts, etc.) are pre-pulled when the RO is generated and placed on a shelf in the shop for quick access. Other parts needed are delivered to the technician's stall when requested with one-click through MPI.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work is not allowed, though work on your personal vehicle or direct family members is allowed during non-scheduled hours (after 4:30, on Saturdays).
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
Amazing family environment with rock solid technicians - 3 Audi Master Guilds with almost all of the rest being Audi Masters. Work is evenly dispatched throughout all technicians.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Technicians are trained very heavily with the intent to move up one level of Audi training every year.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Our in-house apprentice program has been very successful. We find strong-character candidates (no experience necessary), and build them from the ground up. They will work directly with a different master technician every week, learning how each technician does the job and goes about their day, and the master tech gets paid for whatever the apprentice completes while the apprentice is paid hourly, encouraging the master techs to get the apprentice up to speed as quickly as possible. As soon as the apprentice is ready and has completed Audi FastTrack training, they transition to a flat-rate used car reconditioning technician, learning how to make a living on flat-rate while working on vehicles with less demand and stress. When they've mastered that, they move on to being a full-line technician.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Quarterly reviews focusing on the technician's goals and how the store can assist them in achieving those goals.
What type of safety training is required?
KPA safety training is completed the morning of your first day during the onboarding process.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
As mentioned above in the apprentice program, our master techs work hand-in-hand with apprentices, rotating to a different master tech each week. Those technicians guide apprentices through the simplest to most-complex repairs and diagnoses to prepare the apprentice to do it on their own in the future. We also have a wealth of knowledge and experience throughout the shop, willing to help any technician, young or old, when they get stuck or would like someone else's opinion or input.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Baxter Auto provides opportunity to connect with local schools and organizations through volunteering, sponserships, and fundraisers.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We invite high school and community college auto tech students in to job shadow or observe and discuss what all the job entails. This career path provides a tremendous opportunity to provide for yourself and your family while staying in high demand and recession-proof should you ever choose to relocate anywhere else in the country.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes, phone screens are completed by a recruiter before in person or virtual interviews.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
In-person interviews consist of interviewing with a manager and store leader, store and shop tours, and questions to get to know you and your work style.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
All job offers are contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
We will make offers as soon as possible and work to notify applicants of rejection as soon as we fill the position.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
We work as quickly as times allows, we don't like to make candidates wait but we always want to select the candidate that fits our mindsets and qualifications.
