The shop is heated and air conditioned.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The current Ashland Automotive team has 12 members.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Ashland Automotive is open 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Overtime is not required, but will usually be available.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All specialized tools are provided.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a break room with an outdoor seating area. The breakroom includes a table, sink, air fryer, toaster oven, George Foreman grill, a refrigerator, and freezer.

How many bays does your shop have?

7 lifts and one alignment rack. 1 oversize hoist for things like sprinter vans and 2 larger lifts for larger trucks.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Our average is about 250-275 per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are ordered by the service advisor once work is authorized by the customer.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is acceptable off of company premises on your own time, so long as it doesn't effect your daily workload. You may request to use the shop to work on your personal vehicles after hours.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer both online training and in person. A technician is never done growing so we always encourage continuing education.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have several opportunities for growth even if you decide you want to change what aspect of automotive you want to be involved in. We are currently working on expanding the amount of shops we own and with that even more growth opportunities will exist within our organization.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Aside from regular group check ins we also perform quarterly checks and also an annual review to go over the previous year and look forward to the next by setting personal and professional goals and coming up with a plan to help achieve those goals.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety Training is not required before employment, however we do onboard with Standard Operating Procedures as well as and employee handbook that outlines all safety requirements.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We do have an active technician apprentice program in which more experienced technicians work closely with new technicians to the benefit of both parties. The experienced technician receives pay for their effort and the apprentice receives experience.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We have participated in many local events, such as the Science Works hands on car take apart event.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are on the board of several semi-local technician training programs to help encourage growth in our industry.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We prefer to, yes.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Generally you will sit down with the Operations Manager and the Shop Owner and have a discussion about the position in question. These are usually causal interviews where an applicant is encouraged to ask questions as well.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Depending on the position, we do request a Berke assessment, which is a personality test. This is not required for all positions.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No. We do have a 90 day employment probation period though.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

2-5 business days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

This is highly dependent on the availability of a candidate.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $78,000.00 - $110,000.00/year ($37.50 - $52.88/hr)

This position can be both a salaried with production bonus or a flat rate with production bonus position.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00/year ($28.85 - $36.06/hr)

This position can be both a salaried with production bonus or a flat rate with production bonus position.

C Level Technician Pay Range: $44,000.00 - $52,000.00/year ($21.15 - $25.00/hr)

This is typically an hourly position but can be made flat rate with a bonus structure.

Service Advisor Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $120,000.00/year

This is a commission based position and the low end pay is based off an advisor with no experience guarantee. Our average advisor usually makes around 90,000 and a well motivated, experienced advisor has make 120,000+ but truly the sky is the limit.

Health Insurance Offered
Regence Blue Cross / Blue Shield health insurance is available after 90 days. Employees pay 25% and Ashland Automotive pays 75%. Employee contributions are deducted from each paycheck.

Ashland Automotive currently offers an IRA that includes company matching.
Sick Leave Offered
Employees are provided with one week of paid sick leave per calendar year, accessible after 90 days of employment.
Vacation Offered
Employees receive one week of vacation after one year with the company. After three years of employment, Employees will receive two weeks of vacation per year.
Paid Holidays Offered
We currently provide 6 paid holidays as well as the option for up to 3 additional unpaid holidays. Those are typically Black Friday, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
