As a Benore Diesel Mechanic you will provide mechanical repair, routine maintenance, and installation services to the company's fleet of heavy tractors, van trailers and forklifts. This position requires an experienced diesel mechanic with knowledge, and experience to maintain all transportation fleet vehicles to meet DOT and state requirements for commercial class 8 tractors, trailers, and diesel engines. Position represents the company in a positive image working with our employees, customers, and community in a safe and ethical manner to achieve financial success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Responsible for inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of the fleet of company vehicles in compliance with company and DOT standards
  • 6 years of proven heavy-duty vehicle repair including: PM's, tire & wheel, air & hydraulic brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical trouble-shooting, electronic component repair and overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions
  • Works with department personnel and management on parts, tires, and equipment needs required for heavy truck maintenance
  • Required to sign off on the Driver's Vehicle Inspection reports that all repairs have been completed to meet DOT and company requirements
  • Performs a variety of tasks associated with heavy vehicle maintenance and other duties as assigned by management
  • Position maybe required to perform roadside repairs as needed

CDL A a plus but not required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have own hand tools, have a Class A CDL preferred but not required, and have current experience as a diesel mechanic. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.

LANGUAGE /COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instructions, operational procedures, mechanical manuals and diagrams.  Ability to effectively represent the Company in a positive manner dealing clients, customers, co-workers, drivers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using decimals and whole numbers. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.  Ability to resolve problems involving preventative maintenance, inspection, and repair of Company vehicles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Most work is performed inside a maintenance department where the noise level is moderate. May be required to stand or bend to inspect and repair fleet vehicle.  May be required to drive tool truck to off-site locations for repair of inoperative vehicles.
