Lube Technician

Job Title: Lube Technician

Department: Service

Reports to: Service Manager

Job Summary:

The Lube Technician is an entry level technician who is responsible for performing the basic maintenance of customer vehicles. Responsibilities:

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.

  • Drains oil from the crankcase and refills with the required amount of oil.

  • Replaces oil and air filters.

  • Inspects vehicle fluid levels, replaces or replenishes as necessary.

  • Checks tire pressure and adds air if needed.

  • Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.

  • Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.

  • Documents all work performed on the repair order.

  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by the Service Manager.

  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisors immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.

  • Keeps the shop area organized and clean.

  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.

  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.

  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

  • Preforms other related  tasks as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

  •  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

  • Ability to Read and Interpret Documents Such as Safety Rules, Operating and Maintenance Instructions and Procedure Manuals.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous automotive Lube Technician experience is highly desired.  

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, from all seasons.   

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times. 

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and Insurance as well as be able to pass a Drug Screening, Criminal Background Check, and Driving Record Check.
