What are some things you wish the general public or kids about to graduate high school knew about being a tech?

We wish the general public knew how rewarding it is to be a technician. Being a technician can be one of the most fulfilling career paths to take. The sense of accomplishment when you finally fix a problem or an issue on a car that seemed to be unsolvable or unfixable is truly amazing! It gives you the drive to keep going, and wanting to come back into work the next day.

What are some things you wish the general public or kids about to graduate high school knew about being a tech?

We would like the general public to know how valuable being a mechanic is. With the world continually changing around us, one thing that will never change is the need for automobile maintenance. Whether it be traditional automobiles or electric automobiles, all vehicles will need some sort of maintenance within the life of the car. Having the skill to repair and maintain vehicles is something that will never change. Talk about job security! We would encourage high school graduates to look into the industry more but overall, try it out for themselves!

What are some things you wish the general public or kids about to graduate high school knew about being a tech?

We would like to share with the general public, and kids about to graduate high school, that being a technician can be an extremely rewarding career. When you work in the industry, you surround yourself with likeminded individuals who strive to learn, grow and become better in their skill. While many people think that being a technician means working alone, we would like them to know that it is a team driven career. You are continually working with and around others who want to see you grow and succeed!

The vehicles that you will be repairing today are more gadgets and electronics than machines. From the moment you turn the key everything is controlled by a computer. It’s not uncommon for a vehicle owner to experience an issue with their vehicle that is a normal operating characteristi of a vehicle (ABS self checks stand out in my mind). Learn to utilize the “theory and operation” category of a vehicles service info to learn to correctly diagnose issues with modern vehicles. If you don’t know how a vehicle and it’s system work, you can’t perform accurate diagnostics.
