We are a AAA approved facility. Since 1991, West Automotive Center has provided motorists in the Van Nuys area with comprehensive auto repair services. We have always taken pride in providing pristine work for our customers, and we work hard to get the job done right the first time. Our shop is operated on the principles of honesty and personalized service, and we go out of our way to make your experience as stress-free as possible. With ASE-certified mechanics and a Master Technician on staff, you'll be hard-pressed to find the same level of expertise that our specialists provide.

The front office does have AC.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our shop has 7-10 employees. 3 to 4 mechanical techs.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday through Friday 8;00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 3:00pm.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all major equipment, and diagnostic tools for our technicians

What type of break room facility is provided?

Air conditioned, water dispenser, table and chairs

How many bays does your shop have?

4 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

80 to 100

What is your parts ordering process?

Management takes care of ordering parts. Most parts are ordered online through vendors that have multiple deliveries per day.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is allowed if approved by management.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?


Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

All employees are encouraged to become ASE certified.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Career advancement may be available to an employee that shows a passion for the business.

Can you describe your performance review process?

For new employees, we have a three month and six month performance review. After that, we have a one year performance review.

What type of safety training is required?


Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Experienced technicians will be available to answer questions and help with repairs when time permits.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We have donated to our local Reseda high school football team.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

No, but we are considering it in the near future.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We're always striving to grow our clientele and expand our business. With this, we look to put the best team around us.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, Only a few minutes.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes. Light screen to make sure they are going to be a fit.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

A series of relevant questions pertaining to the job description. Getting to know the candidate a little bit including background, certifications, and them as a person.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?


Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No formal skills assessment. Skill set is talked about during interview process.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

One to two weeks.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

One week.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $70,000 - $85,000/year

Experienced technician required.

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $55,000/year

Experienced lube tech required.

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $75,000/year

Experienced service advisor required.
