Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated, it does not currently have air conditioning.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

You will be working with a team of 14 technicians, four service consultants, and a dispatcher.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

The shop is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM-5:00 PM. There is one shift.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All of the manufacturer's essential tools are supplied.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a newly remodeled break room with a cable TV, a microwave, a refrigerator, and air conditioning.

How many bays does your shop have?

32 total bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We currently average 1,050 repair orders per month. This includes customer pay, warranty, and internal repair orders.

What is your parts ordering process?

We currently order parts via Tekion through the parts department. We do have two parts counter people stationed in the shop for easier accessibility.

What is your policy on side work?

The shop can be used to work on your personal vehicles on Wednesdays (after hours) and on Saturdays.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Currently have two parts employees on the shop floor to order and deliver parts to technicians. We also have a newly updated essential tool room, so all tools are easily found.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer all of the manufacturer's training and pay for ASE certifications.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

One of our promises to our employees is continued learning and growth. We offer training both through GM and internally to ensure our technicians are given the opportunity to learn and grow in the direction they most want to.

Can you describe your performance review process?

There are 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews after being hired, these reviews then go to yearly.

What type of safety training is required?

Quarterly topic related and yearly automotive lift.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

The Mentor Technician will oversee the Apprentice Technician, overseeing diagnoses and repairs as needed with each individual repair.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We offer internship opportunities for youth in the community, and sponsor events, and youth sports teams.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We offer job shadowing with local high schools and are involved with our local Technical College.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we normally start with a brief phone interview. Basic discussion and Q & A about the candidate's background

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Casual conversations for us to get to know the individual and an explanation of the position requirements.

Yes, we preform background checks and drug screening.

No formal skill assessment. Skill assessment is done through the interview process

3-5 days.

3-5 days plus background check and drug testing.

Main Shop Technician Pay Range: $20.00 - $45.00/hour

Quick Lube Technician Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00/hour
