Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our main, Shop is heated, no a/c but during summer we keep the doors shut and the big ass fans moving the air. ON road repair which then depends on the customers location. Some are factories that have heat and or A/C and some have BIG open sky shops. (you get to enjoy mother nature)

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Team is currently at 5 members

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

7:30am to 4pm Monday through Friday. We do not currently or have any plans of working weekends.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

A plethora of Milwaukee tools, grinders, mag drills, impacts and ect. MIG, TIG, and stick welders and plasma cutters. Steam pressure washer and glass media sand blaster.

What type of break room facility is provided?

A small office with table and chairs, coffee maker, fridge freezer, microwave, pellet grill and easy bake oven. Also have a front porch with chairs.

How many bays does your shop have?

3 bays Shop size is 60x80. Can handle up to 12 forklifts with more than enough room around each unit.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

95

What is your parts ordering process?

Service techs relay parts needed for repairs to one of the parts managers.

What is your policy on side work?

No forklift repairs. No work with company vehicles. All other work is fair game.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Some of this work can be dirty, sweaty and you can hurt your brain trying to troubleshoot problems, but ultimately we are a family that likes to have FUN embracing the suck. what more is there to say?

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We communicate with the techs in areas we feel they need more work/ understanding on, and ask what areas they feel need to improve in. Info, and training classes are then provided to fit those needs.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

As the business grows more positions will open up in the way parts managers, service managers, shop managers ect. Currently with our size the team leaders operate most of these roles.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We simply just ask how things are going, talk about constructive criticism with team members, and look at how long jobs take to accomplish vs previous repairs by more experienced team members.

What type of safety training is required?

We go over proper raising, blocking, and lowering equipment. All safety training is taught in person.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We are all very helpful and want everyone to succeed in work and even in eachother's personal lives. We all have different backgrounds and age groups in different walks of life and discuss many topics.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

As a business we have not been involved in the local community, all team members as individuals are involved in one way or another and encourage one another to be helpful.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Not currently, but it is an avenue we are looking into further for future development.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We want our members to succeed, that may not always mean you will be with us for the next 30 years. But its more important that you can continue to excel at your calling.

A formal sit down chat, about goals, experiences and expectations.

Yes,yes,yes and yes.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Yes we have a small test with some basic mechanical skills questions along with some more industry specific questions.

2 to 4 business days

3 to 15 days depending on the role

Level A Tech Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00/year ($33.65 - $43.27/hr)

Currently hourly based pay with an end of the year bonus.

Level B Tech Pay Range: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00/year

Currently hourly based pay with an end of the year bonus.

Level C Tech Pay Range: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00/year ($14.42 - $19.23/hr)

Currently hourly based pay with an end of the year bonus.

Tool Allowance: $1,000 per year after 90 days. Book reading club. 50 Bucks cash for reading the monthly book and being involved in the 30 minute discussion. Annual 4x4 Off-road team building day at Badlands park.
