Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop, Lube rack, and Service drive are all heated during the cold winter. During the Summer we have Fans throughout the shop and service drive to help keep the temperature down.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our current team consists of 10 Technicians, including 2 Apprentices. Additionally, we currently have 5 QuickLane Techs.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our shop hours are 7am to 6pm, some techs work from 7am to 3:30pm, others work shifts that start later and work until 6pm.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have a large tool room where we have all the Ford Specialty tools available for all techs, as well as all major shop equipment.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a break room that is heated and air-conditioned and has a refrigerator and a microwave.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our shop consists of 20 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average about 1,600 ROs per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts can be ordered at the counter with a Parts counterman or through an Electronic ordering process.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work for personal vehicles as well as family and friends is allowed in our shop. Our only requirement is that there be an RO open and all shop rules are being followed.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer all training provided by Ford. Basic training, specialty training, and EV training are available for all technicians.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have multiple options for growth within the company. We always prioritize promoting from within the company.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Technicians are coached through and checked on a monthly basis.

What type of safety training is required?

The is a large amount of training that has to be completed every year from OSHA as well as from Ford.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our apprentices are assigned to one of our Master Technicians or Lead Technicians depending on the Specialty the apprentice is being trained for. i.e. Electrical, Diesel, Heavy Line, or EV.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We try to be as involved as possible with our community.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We sponsor several local schools through the ACE program with Ford. We also work with the ASSET program through Ranken Technical College.

Roberts Motors operates as a large family, we value our employees and our community.

We offer phone screening before an in-person interview if an applicant prefers it, but it is not required.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Our service manager interviews the applicants.

Yes, we perform background checks, drug screening, as well as a personal physical.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, we don't require any sort of skill assessment.

On average, within 1-5 days you'll hear from our service manager.

Between the application, interview, and screenings the process can take anywhere from 3-14 days.

Entry level Lube Technician

Apprentice Technician Pay Range: $25.34 - $27.02/hour

Apprentice Technician

Ford Certified Journeyman Technician Pay Range: $33.78 - $33.78/hour

Top level technician, fully Ford Certified.
